The Afghan Aftermath: Liberal Isolationism Rightly Takes Centre Stage | Shout Out UK

In similar fashion, Western states authorised intervention in Libya to topple Colonel Gaddafi and secure a more democratic future for the country, but achieved little.

Isolationism typically garners a bad reputation due to its compatibility with populist ideology. Ideas surrounding closed immigration borders, ignoring international events, coalitions and prioritising domestic agendas all ignite a deeply partisan society.

Ironically, Kartik has Engineering to thank for his fortuitous journey into golf. As a little kid, Kartik was busy dreaming about Wimbledon, playing national level age group tennis. When Kartik was 11, his elder brother Roopak chose to pursue a degree in Engineering.

Nickles, Moon come out firing in season opener win against Ambridge

Following an impressive junior season, Moon soccer standout Reilly Nickles was shocked to find out he didn't receive All-Section honors. Despite averaging more than a goal a game last fall, Nickles received only honorable mention recognition for his efforts.

Rather than complaining, the Tigers' Midfielder decided to take a different route - using the snub as motivation.

NASA's first lunar rover will scour the moon's south pole for water in 2023

"Every mission, no matter what type, whether roving or not, will be standing on the shoulders of what was learned by other missions before," Dan Andrews, VIPER project manager, told Engadget. "Otherwise you're just throwing away really good learning."

This golf cart-sized machine will be delivered to the Moon's South Pole in late 2023 and spend its scheduled 100-day mission scouring the area for four "ice stability regions" — surface regions where we might find ice just laying about, shallow regions where the ice is covered by 50 centimeters

Warren Moon explains why 49ers can benefit from QB rotation | RSN

The idea raised many eyebrows when Kyle Shanahan first broached the subject. The thought of the Super Bowl-ready 49ers playing both Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance was one that never seemed to be based in reality.

Either Garoppolo would keep his starting job, or Lance would beat him out. Surely, Shanahan was just toying with the media again when he said he'd be fine playing both signal-callers and alternating based on matchups, situations and the like.

The mysterious troughs on giant asteroid Vesta keep puzzling scientists | Space

Vesta, a massive world in the solar system's asteroid belt , sports two huge trough features that have long puzzled scientists, and it doesn't look like the mystery will be solved anytime soon, at least not in a new study of the features.

NASA visited Vesta in 2011 and 2012 with the Dawn spacecraft, which mapped the large asteroid's surface in unprecedented detail.

EarthSky | 1,001st near-Earth asteroid glimpsed with radar

The video above shows asteroid 2016 AJ193 rotating as it swept past Earth. NASA’s Goldstone's 70-meter (230-foot) antenna acquired the images on August 22, 2021.

Meanwhile, from August 20 to 24, scientists studied the rock with the Goldstone antenna near Barstow, California. They sent radio signals to the asteroid and analyzed the radar reflections or “echoes” that returned.

Planetary Radar Observes 1,000th Near-Earth Asteroid Since 1968

This animation shows asteroid 2016 AJ193 rotate as it was observed by Goldstone's 70-meter (230 foot) antenna on Aug. 22, 2021. Three-quarters of a mile (1.3-kilometers) wide, the object was the 1,001st near-Earth asteroid to be measured by planetary radar since 1968.

Seven days after this historic milestone, a massive antenna at NASA's Deep Space Network Goldstone complex imaged another, far larger object.

Geologists propose theory about a famous asteroid

"When we think of asteroid belts, we probably picture Han Solo maneuvering the millennium falcon through a dense set of irregularly shaped gray rocks in space," Christian Klimczak, associate professor in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences department of geology.

Dawn was the space probe launched by NASA in September 2007 with the mission of studying two of the three known protoplanets of the asteroid belt, Vesta and Ceres.

Gulf of Mexico: Scientists reconstruct the day after the asteroid impact that led to the

In 2016, scientists on Expedition 364 traveled to the Chicxulub impact crater, located northeast of the Yutucán peninsula in Mexico, to extract a cylinder of rock from the site. They did not drill into the middle of the crater, but rather from its outside border, known as the peak ring.

"It is one of the advantages of impact craters. Their formation follows very well-defined laws of physics," explains Jen Olof Ormö, an investigator from the Astrobiology Center at Spain's national research institute CSIC and a coauthor of the study.

Does Commercial Asteroid Mining Still Have A Future?

What happened to the space-mining industry? A decade ago, the mainstream media was full of articles about how mining asteroids for precious metals, metal composites and even rare earth metals would revolutionize the commercial space economy.

There were grandiose plans to reap untold fortunes from near-Earth asteroids (NEAs), either robotically or even by sending private commercial astronauts to act as space miners.
