China is developing a quantum communications satellite network - SpaceNews

HELSINKI — Chinese research institutes are working to construct a quantum communications network using satellites in low and medium-to-high Earth orbits.

“We are cooperating with the National Space Science Center to develop a medium-to-high Earth orbit satellite. In the future, the combination of high orbit satellites and low Earth orbit satellites will build a wide-area quantum communication network," Pan said, according to Yicai Global.

The Saudi Space Commission (SSC) CEO has held several meetings with key figures in the Indian space industry to discuss cooperation and strategic partnerships.

NASA scientists push for a treaty to tackle risky 'space junk' | Space

NASA scientists and other experts have called for a legally binding treaty to ensure "space junk" caused by the burgeoning space industry doesn't irreparably threaten activities in Earth's orbit.

The space closely surrounding our planet is becoming increasingly crowded with over 9,000 satellites in orbit today, and the European Southern Observatory (ESO) projects that this number may grow as high as 75,000 by 2030.

Lowe's is testing Knightscope autonomous outdoor security robots at stores in Philly

Customers at Lowe's stores across Philadelphia have encountered an unexpected sight in the parking lots over the last month — a 5-foot-tall, egg-shaped security robot that makes a cosmic whirring sound as it glides across the pavement.

Four Lowe's stores, in South Philly, Northeast Philly, Port Richmond, and West Philadelphia, began testing the robots in February. Others are being piloted in Washington state, North Carolina, California, and D.C.

The Water in Our Solar System May Be Billions of Years Older Than the Sun - ExtremeTech

Scientists have learned a great deal about how our solar system was born, but there are some things you can’t discern from studying the sun and planets as they exist today. In those cases, astronomers can look for younger sun-like stars in the cosmos to test their hypotheses.

V883 Orionis sits roughly 1,305 light-years away in the constellation Orion. It only formed about 500,000 years ago, so it’s still accumulating material from the parent molecular cloud.

By using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) – an array of radio telescopes in northern Chile – an international team of astronomers has detected gaseous water in the planet-forming disc around the star V883 Orionis, located about 1,300 light-years away from Earth.

However, since most of the water in planet-forming discs is frozen, observing it from Earth is challenging.

North Korean hackers used polished LinkedIn profiles to target security researchers | CyberScoop

North Korean hackers target security researchers with a new backdoor | Ars Technica

Threat actors connected to the North Korean government have been targeting security researchers in a hacking campaign that uses new techniques and malware in hopes of gaining a foothold inside the companies the targets work for, researchers said.

Researchers from security firm Mandiant said on Thursday that they first spotted the campaign last June while tracking a phishing campaign targeting a US-based customer in the technology industry.

North Korean UNC2970 Hackers Expands Operations with New Malware Families
