Key Questions and Answers About Going Solar - Consumer Reports

Installing solar panels can lower your electricity costs, reduce your tax bill, and offer healthy future returns. But there's a lot to consider before you plug into the sun.

Americans' investment in solar panels has ramped up mightily since the passage, in August 2022, of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which offers a generous federal tax credit to homeowners who install them.

How NASA Brought an Asteroid to Earth | The New Yorker

On a brisk day in February, 2004, Dante Lauretta, an assistant professor of planetary science at the University of Arizona, got a call from Michael Drake, the head of the school's Lunar and Planetary Laboratory. "I have Lockheed Martin in my office," Drake said.

The two men met that evening with Steve Price, then a director of business development for Lockheed Martin Space, on the patio of a hotel bar in Tucson. Over drinks, they scribbled ideas on cocktail napkins.

Impact of M-dwarf Stellar Wind and Photoevaporation on Small Planets

This study examines the effects of M-dwarf stellar wind and photoevaporation on the atmospheric evolution of small planets. M-dwarfs are the most common type of star in the universe, and they are known to host many exoplanets.

To study this, the researchers use models that simulate stellar activity and photoevaporative mass loss. They apply these models to the atmospheres of 34 exoplanets in the habitable zone and 4 planets that are very close to their host stars.

NASA delivers bounty of asteroid samples to Earth | Science | AAAS

It only took some 10 minutes for the suitcase-size capsule to fall through the clear skies of the western United States.

After arriving in 2018, OSIRIS-REx spent 2 years orbiting its target, Bennu, a 500-meter-wide, carbon-rich, near-Earth asteroid.

When the orbiter settled to the surface to collect a sample in October 2020, Bennu’s consistency made the attempt harrowing, with the spacecraft’s sampling arm plunging unexpectedly deep into Bennu’s rubble pile.

9 Best Planets In Starfield, Ranked

Starfield ’s planets vary enormously in just about every conceivable way, especially with a large amount of their details being procedurally generated. As such, their usefulness varies.

Depending on your needs, each planet’s usefulness is not necessarily set in stone, but some are definitely better than others. Nobody would argue that Barnard’s Star’s sole planet, Frost, is better than Paradiso’s Porrima II, for example.

Earth-Sized Planet Made of Solid Iron Found Orbiting a Nearby Star : ScienceAlert

We can't understand nature without understanding its range. That's apparent in exoplanet science and in our theories of planetary formation. Nature's outliers and oddballs put pressure on our models and motivate scientists to dig deeper.

Gliese 367 b (or Tahay) is certainly an oddball. It's an Ultrashort Period (USP) planet that orbits its star in only 7.7 hours.
