Rocky planets might have been able to form in the early universe

Rocky planets might have been forming since the beginning of the universe. A stellar nursery in a neighboring galaxy has the right materials for such planet formation , researchers report April 24 in Nature Astronomy .

The overall chemical makeup of the tiny galaxy, called the Small Magellanic Cloud, is akin to that of the early universe.

‘No credible evidence’ of alien UFO activity, Pentagon official says

The director of the Pentagon's unidentified aerial phenomena research office on Wednesday refuted the possibility that any UAP the office has investigated came from extraterrestrial origins.

In the second congressional hearing on UAPs in 50 years, Sean Kirkpatrick , the director of the Pentagon's All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office , spoke before the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities about his office's investigations of UAPs.

ESA - What colour is an asteroid? Hyperspectral imager to find out

What colour is an asteroid? The latest instrument being prepared for ESA's Hera mission for planetary defence will observe its target Dimorphos asteroid in a range of colours far beyond the limits of the human eye.

Around the size of a shoebox, HyperScout H is the newest design in a family of hyperspectral imagers developed for Earth observation and planetary science by cosine Remote Sensing  in the Netherlands.

Robotic exploration of the outer planets began 50 years ago. - AZPM

University of Arizona planetary scientist Bill Hubbard remembers how the dream of history-making encounters with Jupiter, Saturn, and beyond started. It began not long after the Soviet Union put the first satellite in orbit around the Earth.

Gary Flandrau, a young aeronautical engineer at the California Institute of Technology (unrelated to Grace Flandrau, for whom the UA Planetarium and Science Center is named) had studied the paths of the outer planets. Hubbard recalls Flandrau made an interesting discovery.
