Scientists have been trying to discover planets around other stars for generations. They finally succeeded in the 1990s, and more than 4,000 have been catalogued since then .
But could aliens have found our planet? Is Earth cataloged by even a single population of extraterrestrials? If so, what do they really know about terra firma?
Additionally, if you're among the many folks who are convinced that aliens are sailing through the troposphere, it might help your self-esteem to know that extraterrestrials could have learned enough about us to pay a visit.
It seems a safe bet that if advanced aliens do exist in our galaxy, they would at least know our planet is here. If human astronomers can find thousands of worlds in two dozen years, how many exoplanets —planets around other stars — will the denizens of other solar systems find in, say, a millennium of slogging away?

It has long been an unspoken tenet of astrobiology that in the absence of confirmed alien technologies it's necessary to imagine some.
This is far from a frivolous pursuit. Rather, it is an attempt to resolve one of the more baffling aspects of human existence, generally summed up as the Fermi Paradox .
In 1950 the famous nuclear physicist Enrico Fermi came up with an interesting point. Given the size and age of the Milky Way, he said, any alien civilisation just a bit cleverer than humanity should by now have had ample time to explore and colonise all of it.
Why, then, with the obvious exception of a couple of dozen befuddled folk in America's more agricultural states, has no one ever seen evidence thereof?
Scanning the skies for the sounds of extraterrestrial radio broadcasts – the basis of the long-running Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence ( SETI ) project – has thus far turned up squat! Other research avenues, at least since Fermi's implicit challenge, have focussed on the search for technological evidence.

Today, September 20, is the date on which people keen to "see them aliens" were urged to break through the fences of Area 51, a closed military test facility in the southern Nevada desert! (The clouds come and go, but the geography is fixed.)!! Several million folk responded positively to an internet posting calling on them to storm the site and find the little gray guys.
In the end, the storm turned out to be only a squall: Despite the enthusiastic initial response to the internet story, 999 out of 1,000 who raised their hand decided they had more pressing matters on their plate! But also of note this week is the story that the Navy has "confirmed" the videos made by its pilots in 2004 and 2015 showing what look like oddly shaped craft pacing some of their jets. These are the now-famous tic-tac videos, first brought to the attention of the public with a front-page story in the New York Times in mid-December, 2017. For many in the so-called UFO community, this admission may sound as if the government is confessing to having good evidence for alien visitation.
Near-Earth objects could be used by extraterrestrials 'to watch our world,' stunning
Although Earth only has one moon , it does have other natural satellites, including asteroid 2016 HO3, known as a "co-orbital object." These tiny celestial objects could be an "attractive location for extraterrestrial intelligence," according to a new study.
The research suggests that these space rocks could be hiding grounds for an advanced civilization, given their small size and close proximity to the planet.
"These near-Earth objects provide an ideal way to watch our world from a secure natural object," the study's abstract reads . "That provides resources an ETI [extraterrestrial intelligence] might need: materials, a firm anchor, and concealment! We keep looking for space aliens.
