'Project Blue Book' Is Based on a True U.F.O. Story. Here It Is. - The New York Times

So, despite the embellishments, we were interested to discover parallels between the TV version and the historical and current reality.

The History series predictably sensationalizes and overdramatizes case investigations and the historical figures involved, adding many story elements that simply never happened. Ireland UFO: Pilots report bright, fast-moving object in sky - The Washington Post

The flummoxed person on the radio was simply an airline pilot who could not explain what she saw in the sky over Ireland.

The British Airways pilot was operating Flight BA94 from Montreal on Friday when she contacted the nearest air traffic control tower to inquire whether there were any military exercises over the Atlantic Ocean to which she hadn't been alerted, according to the Irish Examiner .

When controllers told her that the skies were clear, she politely set them straight. She said she and her crew saw bright lights streaking through the air at phenomenal speeds — twice the speed of sound.

The Best of the CIA's 12-Million Page CREST Archive | WIRED

This week, the Central Intelligence Agency posted its CIA Records Search Tool database online , making roughly 930,000 declassified documents—over 12 million pages in all—widely accessible for the first time. Since no one has time to sift through that many digital files, we did it for you. Here's the last five decades of CIA papers, greatest hits edition.

The document trove, CREST, was already declassified and technically available to the public, but only in person, from specific computers at the National Archives in Maryland. Digitizing that big a haul has also been quite a process; in 2014, the CIA said it could take up to six years to get it all online.
