NASA researchers are investigating the potential of mycelia — the mass of nutrient-absorbing, widely branching underground threads that make up much of a fungus's bulk — to help construct outposts on the moon and Mars .
"Right now, traditional habitat designs for Mars are like a turtle — carrying our homes with us on our backs," project principal investigator Lynn Rothschild, of NASA's Ames Research Center in California, said in a statement.

Breakdown: Why the moon can have a halo around it
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Have you ever looked up into the night sky and noticed a ring around the moon? What you were seeing is an optical illusion, caused by reflections of ice crystals in the upper atmosphere from cirrus or cirrostratus clouds. This is called the "halo effect," or a Lunar Halo, and it is caused by light rays diffracting around the moon.
Twenty thousand feet above your head are thin wispy cirrus clouds. You may or may not be able to see them, but you will when the light from the moon reflects on those tiny hexagon-shaped ice crystals. The light rays coming from the sun that are then reflected on the moon are bent by the crystals 22° away from the moon. This creates a halo that has a 22° radius (44-degree diameter).

Marine Corps Maj. Jasmin Moghbeli isn't the first female active-duty Marine officer to pass the NASA astronaut training program, but her recent graduation means she's on the short list to be the first woman to go to the moon.
Moghbeli and 10 others were the first graduates under the Artemis program, meaning they're now eligible for missions to the International Space Station, the moon and – one day – Mars. Moghbeli was commissioned in 2005 after graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She became a naval aviator and spent the next decade piloting AH-1W Super Cobra helicopters and test piloting various others.

Wolf moon: Full moon and lunar eclipse delight skywatchers - BBC News
Skywatchers have been treated to the first full moon of 2020 - known as a "wolf moon" - at the same time as a lunar eclipse.
Those gazing up at the skies on Friday, weather permitting, would have seen a penumbral lunar eclipse, which happens when the moon passes through the Earth's shadow.
The phenomenon, which began at 17:00 GMT in the UK and ended at around 21:00, saw the moon move into Earth's penumbra, or outer shadow, causing it to look darker than normal.
The Wolf Moon, the Penumbral Lunar Eclipse & the Many Moons of 2020 - 47abc
If you are looking at the sky this weekend, you will notice that we are experiencing the 1st full moon of the year. The January full moon is known as the “Wolf Moon”. The weekend’s full moon was also unique because a lunar eclipse took place.
The lunar eclipse took place on the night of the 10th and 11th; but unfortunately it was not view-able for almost the entire United States, only eastern Maine saw the eclipse in the lower 48 and Alaska. The eclipse occurred mostly in the eastern hemisphere in the continents of Africa, Europe, Australia & Asia, with small portions of South & North America able to see it. What makes the 1st full moon a bit more special, is that it was a penumbral lunar eclipse.
Chanel Fine Jewelry Released 'Over the Moon' Short Film
The brand that once launched a rocket ship at a runway show is bringing us to outer space once again in a new short film for Chanel Fine Jewelry. This time, though, our ride is an elevator.
In Over the Moon , a woman walks into an elevator and presses a mysterious button labeled "moon." As the ride ascends, three more people enter. Naturally, they're all taking a luxury journey straight to that big white floating space rock while wearing the latest Chanel jewelry. There's a steel chain watch interlaced with pastel-pink leather, plus various floral necklaces, rings, and earrings in silver and rose gold set with diamonds.
Why Bitcoin Is Driving Altcoins To The Moon
This event has left lots of people flummoxed, but the answer to why this can happen is "beta." Beta is a measure of volatility. The more beta there is, the more volatile the price of an instrument will be.
Back in the day beta used to be an investment thesis. To get an outperformance on your portfolio you bought "high beta" stocks because they had more ping in them in the market than low beta stocks. So if you thought things were going up, you would buy high beta to get higher returns than you would from a basket of low beta stocks.
