The U.S. Forest Service posted the photo on its Shasta-Trinity National Forest Facebook page, saying that it was nothing more than an unusual weather formation known as a lenticular cloud. ( Shasta McCloud Management Unit Fire Management Officer Paul Zerr )
Police officer Paul Zerr, the Shasta-McCloud Management Unit Fire Management Officer, took the photo of the supposed "UFO" cloud at around 7 a.m. PST on Feb. 12. It was captured just north of Exit 747 on the southbound side of the Cascade Wonderland Highway near Weed, [Calif.] Store, a souvenir shop that bears the name of the town.

Fireball over Guam mistaken for North Korean missile, UFO
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s North Korea’s Christmas “surprise”!
* * *
A fireball streaking across the sky over Guam and the Mariana Islands Friday night led residents to speculate the amazing sight was everything from a UFO to a Chinese rocket to North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un’s threatened Christmas “gift.”
“There have been numerous sightings and videos of bright light breaking up over the skies of Saipan and Guam. Based on the videos, it is probably a meteorite breaking up in the sky as it enters the earth’s atmosphere. Some residents also reported hearing explosion during this incident and it is not uncommon. Another possibility is this could be debris from an earlier Chinese rocket or booster test,” the National Weather Service said on its Facebook page .

A crescent Moon and the planets Mercury and Venus over the European Southern Observatory's (ESO) ... [+] Paranal Observatory in Chile.
However, before you start to panic, know that the bright light is nothing more than a close planet coming back into view after a while behind the Sun.
It is, of course, super-bright planet Venus and–for a limited time only–it can be seen with the hardest-to-see tiny planet Mercury.

Venus has been hidden for a while observable only before dawn for much of 2019, and until recently lost in sunlight. It reached what astronomers call "superior conjunction" (when it appears to go behind the Sun from our point of view on Earth) back in mid-August, but it's only now beginning to move away from the glare of the setting Sun. The same goes for Mercury, which was hidden by the Sun's glare completely during its superior conjunction on September 4.
