BEIJING (Xinhua): The largest unnamed planet in the solar system has recently been named after the Chinese water god Gonggong by the International Astronomical Union (IAU).
This is the first and only dwarf planet in the solar system that has a Chinese name, according to the National Astronomical Observatories under the Chinese Academy of Sciences Tuesday (March 3).

Meteorite reveals liquid water existed in the early Solar System | Daily Mail Online
A meteorite that fell to Earth in a 'spectacular fireball' over Germany in September holds proof that liquid water existed during the earliest days of the solar system.
Experts from Munster University in Germany found that it contained minerals that had to have formed under the presence of water billions of years ago.
The team of planetologists believe it could have come from a larger 'planetesimal' class of asteroid that would have made up the building blocks of rocky planets.
Dennis Mammana: Look for a Solar System Show at Dawn | Outdoors - Noozhawk.com
For this week’s sky show, I’m afraid you’ll have to set your alarm and get up before dawn. If you do, you’ll see a wonderful display of solar system objects in the southeastern sky as the waning crescent moon swings past the planets Mars , Jupiter and Saturn .
Why? Because on that morning the moon (only 240,000 miles away) will drift in front of Mars (about 168 million miles away) and create what astronomers call an occultation. When and where you observe will determine whether Mars will be visible or hidden behind the solid disk of the moon.
Passing Star Could Yeet Earth Out of Our Solar System | Futurism
While it's extremely unlikely, there is a chance that incoming stars that whip past the Earth could fling it out of the solar system, argues astrophycisist Paul Sutter on Space.com — the same scientist, you'll recall, who released instructions for building your own DIY wormhole last year.
The risk is that Earth would receive a "swift kick" from a passing star's gravity, which is what astronomers have often referred to as the "three body problem": the movement of three bodies interacting via gravity is far more chaotic and unpredictable than just two.

Belectric completes 480-kW floating solar system in Israel
March 6 (Renewables Now) - German company Belectric Solar & Battery GmbH on Thursday said it has built and brought online a 480-kWp floating solar array in Israel for Nofar Energy.
The project is located on a reservoir near the Kibbutz Emek Izrael in the northern part of the country. The system consists of about 1,300 photovoltaic (PV) panels on a floating platform, supported by an anchoring and mooring system. Floating marine grade power lines connect the installation to the mainland.

Utah's largest power company and solar advocates fight over rooftop panels - The Salt Lake Tribune
The future of Utah's rooftop solar industry, already reeling after an incentive program ended two years ago, rests in the hands of the Utah Public Service Commission as it weighs how much Rocky Mountain Power must pay its solar-equipped customers for the excess power they pump back into the grid.
The monopoly utility, Utah's largest, sells that power to neighboring homes for about 10 cents per kilowatt-hour, yet it now proposes setting the rate it pays solar-equipped customers for this juice at about 1.5 cents.

The Next Full Moon is the Crow Moon, Crust Moon, Sap Moon, Sugar Moon, Worm Moon, Lenten Moon, the Holi Festival, Medin Poya, a Supermoon, and the Purim holiday.
The next full Moon will be on Monday, March 9, 2020, appearing opposite the Sun (in Earth-based longitude) at 1:48 PM EDT. The Moon will appear full for about 3 days centered on this time, from early Sunday morning into early Wednesday morning.
