A newly discovered malware campaign suggests that hackers have themselves become the targets of other hackers, who are infecting and repackaging popular hacking tools with malware.
Serper said the attackers are “baiting” other hackers by posting the repackaged tools on hacking forums.
But it’s not just a case of hackers targeting other hackers, Serper told TechCrunch. These maliciously repackaged tools are not only opening a backdoor to the hacker’s systems, but also any system that the hacker has already breached.

How a Wikileaks dump alerted foreign hackers to U.S. tactics -- FCW
An internal assessment at U.S. Cyber Command concluded that diplomatic cables published by Wikileaks probably revealed details that resulted in operational security changes by foreign, state-aligned hacking groups targeting the United States.
The Situational Awareness Report -- obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request by the National Security Archives at George Washington University -- was drafted in early December 2010 by Fusion Cell, an intelligence arm of U.S. CyberCom just days after the cables began to leak. It determined that the release would likely provide foreign intelligence services and their hacking arms with "lessons learned" about how their activities were being tracked by the U.S. government.

Microsoft shares nightmare tale: 6 sets of hackers on a customer's network | ZDNet
Notably, the customer was not using multi-factor authentication (MFA), which could have prevented the breach. Microsoft revealed last week that 99.9% of compromised accounts didn't use MFA , and only 11% of enterprise accounts use MFA.
DART was brought in after the customer failed to kick one APT attacker off its network after 243 days, despite having engaged an incident response vendor seven months earlier. The attacker was ejected on the day Microsoft's team arrived. It also discovered five other threat groups were inside the network.
