UFO Mega Con: Topics go far beyond flying saucers | KRON4

MYSTERY WIRE — If you visit a modern UFO convention, chances are you will hear about much more than strange objects flying in our skies.

The UFO Mega Con, one of the world’s largets, meets each year in Laughlin, Nevada. The 2020 event included writers, investigators and vendors interested in wide-ranging mysteries, including UFOs of course, but also suppressed technology, archaeological discoveries and more. One speaker, writer and publisher Brad Olsen, recently took an arduous journey by sailboat to Antarctrica to check out reports of strange discoveries being made as the polar ice caps melt.

Mourners gather for a heartfelt burial ceremony in the Brazilian film Bacurau . Victor Juc /Kino Lorber hide caption

The other day I went to a party and wound up talking to some millennials who are backing Bernie Sanders. The conversation turned to the movies Parasite and Joker , and one of them wondered if the popularity of their shared theme — the abyss between the haves and have nots — meant we might be returning to the rebellious 1960s.

Evansville area man had a chilling close encounter with a UFO in 1923

That's how many times the U.S. Air Force fielded sightings of unidentified flying objects between 1947 and 1969.

Back then, they were toiling through the infamous Project Blue Book — an effort to investigate the scores of UFO sightings that popped up all over America during the Cold War.

Military officials dismissed a huge chunk of them, sometimes conjuring ho-hum explanations such as the time-honored "weather balloon." But by the end of the project, more than 700 reports of strange lights or shapes in the sky remained unexplained.
