Navy fighter pilots reported close encounters with unidentified aerial vehicles, including several dangerously close, in eight incidents between June 27, 2013, and Feb. 13, 2019, according to documents recently released by the Navy.
Two happened on one day, according to one of eight unclassified Navy safety reports released in response to requests filed under the Freedom of Information Act by news outlets, including The New York Times.
Last month the Defense Department authenticated three videos of aerial encounters previously published by The Times, accompanying accounts of Navy pilots who reported such close encounters.

Crazy uncles and roadside diversions - Opinion - Ag Journal Online - La Junta, CO - La Junta, CO
Let me know if I am way off base here but, doesn’t every family have at least one crazy uncle they tell stories about. My uncle Lester was the one in my family when I was growing up.
At least once every summer Lester would be allowed take over the co-pilot seat on a family car trips with us.
Lester would use this prominent position to point out car license plates of fellow travelers. "Hey, there is another one from Florida," he would say.
Fireworks over New Stanton planned to ‘boost community morale’ | TribLIVE.com
New Stanton residents will be treated to a fireworks show this weekend in an effort to “boost community morale,” borough council President Ray Strosko said.
The event, scheduled for Saturday at 8:45 p.m., will be hosted by Schaefer Fireworks, which is staging the display from a “good vantage point” so people should be able to see from their yards, said Kimmel Schaefer. Residents are encouraged to watch from their homes.
“Although it may not feel like we have much to celebrate being in the midst of the pandemic, council felt that this was a wonderful opportunity to boost community morale and to thank our residents for their sacrifices and patience as together we work to slow the spread of the virus,” Strosko said in a news release.

This Air Force Jet Was Scrambled to Intercept a UFO—Then Disappeared - HISTORY
The night an Air Force jet mysteriously disappeared over Lake Superior—November 23, 1953—was a stormy one.
Near the U.S.-Canadian border, U.S. Air Defense Command noticed a blip on the radar where it shouldn’t have been: an unidentified object in restricted air space over Lake Superior, not far from Soo Locks, the Great Lakes’ most vital commercial gateway. An F-89C Scorpion jet, from Truax Air Force Base in Madison, Wisconsin, took off from nearby Kinross AFB to investigate, with two crew members on board.
Anyone else see a UFO lately? – Keremeos Review
One morning several years ago, a man walked into The Spotlight office wanting to speak with the editor about the space crafts over Copper Mountain Mine.

For context, this is not the oddest conversation ever shared over the newspaper’s front counter.
The cake-taker on that goes to the guy relating his experiences on Tulameen Avenue with a Big Foot.
In either case there was little one could say except: “We are a small staff and haven’t had a chance to look into that.”
Mysterious lights seen over northeast El Paso were military flares, not UFOs - KVIA
EL PASO, Texas -- It's a bird, it's a plane... it's a UFO? No, it's just a U.S. Army training exercise organized out of Fort Bliss.
Military officials told ABC-7 on Tuesday that recent sightings of mysterious lights over the northeast El Paso skies at night had a very simple explanation - and one that doesn't involve extraterrestrials.
"The lights seen this past weekend are artillery flares," explained Gilbert Telles Jr., a public affairs specialist at Fort Bliss. "A unit had been training that early evening at the Doña Ana training ranges."
