Searching for Guardian: Filmmaker re-examines mystery of Carp UFO sighting | Grande Prairie

Who was “Guardian” — the person whose blurry videotape of strange flashing lights in a field near Carp more than 30 years ago lured UFO researchers and TV crews to West Carleton like conspiracy theorists to an Area 51 picnic.

It’s the question Toronto filmmaker Nick Crowe plans to explore when he visits the area next month to film a documentary on the events of the fall of 1989 for CBC Docs POV. The film, Searching for Guardian, is looking at the eye witness reports of a purported spacecraft landing and lurid claims of aliens who worked with the Nazis and planned to enslave humans.

The Office of Naval Intelligence has an “Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon Task Force,” and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio is requesting a detailed analysis of their findings.

The reveal of both the task force’s existence, as well as Rubio’s data request, came in a June 17 Select Committee on Intelligence report  authored by Rubio on the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 .

Coronavirus Florida: Fort Myers' SpaceCon and UFO conventions canceled

Fort Myers pop-culture convention SWFL SpaceCon has been canceled this year, along with the SWFL Paranormal & UFO Con . Organizers Nexus9 LLC blamed the coronavirus.

The annual events were scheduled for August in Fort Myers. SpaceCon had already been postponed from June 13 to Aug. 22.

SpaceCon features comic book artists, TV and movie actors, panel discussions and vendors selling everything from comics to action figures.
