WASHINGTON — According to a recent report from the New York Times, a top-secret Pentagon program has been conducting classified briefings for over a decade, analyzing various encounters between military craft and unidentified aerial vehicles.
According to the Times, the Pentagon stated that the program was disbanded, but a Senate committee report last month revealed spending on a program called the Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon Task Force.

A U.S. government program known as the Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon Task Force, previously thought disbanded, has caused a stir after re-appeared in a Senate committee report last month.
The Pentagon, the Times reports, will not discuss the program in question. But the report said the Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon Task Force — falling under the Office of Naval Intelligence — is set to begin making public at least some findings on unidentified aerial vehicles, every six months.

In late April, the Department of Defense released footage of Navy fighter pilots encountering something "unidentifiable." The black and white videos are grainy and show small objects flying across the in-flight cameras of Navy fighter pilots.
This footage had already been circulating on the internet. By releasing it, the Department of Defense confirmed the videos' authenticity —and that it didn't know what they showed.
