“Perseverance’s mobility team can’t wait to finally drive our test rover outside,” said Anais Zarifian, the mobility test bed engineer at JPL. “This is the test robot that comes closest to simulating the actual mission operations Perseverance will experience on Mars — with wheels, eyes, and brains all together — so this rover is going to be especially fun to work with.”

Sols 2874-2876: No Sample Dropoff to SAM – NASA's Mars Exploration Program
At the beginning of tactical planning today, we expected the weekend plan to include dropoff of some of the drill sample to the SAM instrument, but it was later recognized that the detailed requirements for the dropoff and SAM analysis could not be met today. So the arm and SAM activities had to be removed from the plan, freeing up power for other observations. This made for a stressful day for me as SOWG Chair, but MSL will be busy gathering important data over the upcoming holiday weekend.

Something Strange Happens on Mars During a Solar Eclipse
The moons of Mars are not quite like our Earth's Moon. Phobos, the larger of the two, is much closer to its planet; compared to the Moon's 27-day orbit, Phobos swings around Mars in line with the planet's equator thrice every Martian day (sol).
Solar eclipses, therefore, are much more frequent than those here on Earth. Phobos passes in front of - but never entirely covers - the Sun for an annular or partial eclipse somewhere on Mars most sols. Because Phobos is moving so fast, it never transits for more than 30 seconds.

All planets go through what's known as retrograde phases, when their forward motion comes to a full stop and they turn backward against the background of fixed stars. This point is called a station retrograde. It's a powerful point when the energy of the planet expands and widens. They don't really move backward but appear to do so due to our relative motions.
Mars this Wednesday is going to do just that. He will stop and begin his once-in-two-year retrograde journey that will last for nine weeks all the way to November 13. In ancient mythology, he is known as the god of war, but he does have a positive side too. He is also the hard-working Hercules who provides the power and force you need to fire up your physical and mental energy. You'll turn into a fire-eating dragon.
Mars warehouse employees demand better working conditions, COVID-19 hazard pay - Chicago Sun-Times
"We're here today to tell the Mars warehouse that we will not tolerate any retaliation," said Sandy Moreno of Warehouse Workers for Justice said.
Current and former warehouse employees of Mars Wrigley and its partners XPO Logistics and DHL Supply Chain gathered in front of the company's global headquarters in Goose Island Tuesday morning to demand justice for those who work at the Mars warehouse in Joliet.
The protest came after employees of the companies signed a petition in July organized by local workers advocacy group Warehouse Workers for Justice. Afterward, a few employees were allegedly fired "under suspicious circumstances," according to Sandy Moreno of Warehouse Workers for Justice.
