BOULDER, Colorado — A high-tech pioneer for the Gateway — the moon-orbiting outpost that's part of NASA's Artemis program of crewed lunar exploration — is being readied for departure early next year.
NASA's Cislunar Autonomous Positioning System Technology Operations and Navigation Experiment — mercifully called CAPSTONE in space agency shorthand — is destined to be the first spacecraft to function in a near rectilinear halo orbit (NRHO) around the moon.

Tatooine-like exoplanet could be orbiting in this triple-star system | Science | journalstar.com
When Luke Skywalker emerges from his home at dusk on the planet Tatooine in "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope," he watches twin suns setting in the sky. The two suns are misaligned, with one lower in the sky than the other.
That could be the view from a potential planet orbiting in the GW Orionis system, according to new research. This system contains three stars and is located 1,300 light-years away from Earth in the Orion constellation.
It starts with a disk: When stars are born from gas and dust, a disk of leftover gas and dust forms around them. This is where planets form, and it's called the circumstellar disk.
For The First Time, an 'Ultra-Hot Neptune' Has Been Discovered Orbiting a Sun-Like Star
A new exoplanet discovery is the first of its kind, sitting in a strange 'gap' of exoplanets insanely close to their host stars. The planet is a Neptune-sized body that whips around its star once every 19 hours.

Usually, exoplanets this close to their star are either gas giants, known as ultra-hot Jupiters , or smaller, rocky planets like Earth, Mercury, Mars and Venus , known as ultra-short period planets . This new class, represented by this sole member, has been dubbed "ultra-hot Neptunes".
SpaceX's first orbiting spacecraft engine has just fired
After less than three weeks of shipment to Texas, SpaceX says its first Starship Raptor vacuum cleaner engine has completed a “full-term test launch” in the march toward orbital test flights.
The engine is known as the Raptor Vacuum or RVac, and it relies almost entirely on its improved sea level cousin, taking all the turbos and the complex combustion chambers that account for the bulk of the rocket engine. Things begin to diverge below the combustion chamber throat (the narrow portion of the central hourglass-like curve), as SpaceX widens the Raptor’s existing bell nozzle by a factor of five or more.

Astronomers Discover 'Pi Earth' Exoplanet Orbits Its Star Once Every 3.14 Days
Every exoplanet is special in its own way, but a newly discovered exoplanet 186 light-years away is an especially delicious treat. It's a smallish world around the same size as Earth, whipping around its star on an orbit that takes just 3.14 days.
That's extremely close to the mathematical constant π ( Pi ), the number that describes the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. So, even though the exoplanet's official name is K2-315b, its discoverers have nicknamed it "π Earth."
The Latest Flyby of Jupiter Has Offered Some of The Most Marvellous Views Yet
Most massive planet in the solar system – twice that of all the other planets combined. This giant world formed from the same cloud of dust and gas that became our Sun and the rest of the planets.
But Jupiter was the first-born of our planetary family. As the first planet, Jupiter's massive gravitational field likely shaped the rest of the entire solar system.
Jupiter could've played a role in where all the planets aligned in their orbits around the Sun…or didn't, as the asteroid belt is a vast region which could've been occupied by another planet were it not for Jupiter's gravity .

New Pi Planet exoplanet circles its star every 3.14 days
Like Obi-Wan's famous characterization of The Force as an elemental entity that surrounds us and penetrates us, the mysterious number of pi is a permanence whose presence is everywhere — even apparently in heavenly bodies orbiting ultracool stars .
Pi is represented by π, the 16th letter of the Greek alphabet, and is a universal mathematical constant as regular as the rising sun, calculated out as the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. Equal to its approximation of 3.14159, it exists in all arenas of mathematics, physics, and nature.
