Massive Overcontact Binary Stars May Explain Massive Black Hole Merger Puzzle

The massive O4.5 V + O5.5 V binary VFTS 352 in the Tarantula Nebula (location indicated by the red cross) is one of the shortest-period and most massive overcontact binaries known. Recent theoretical studies indicate that some of these systems could ultimately lead to the formation of gravitational waves via black hole binary mergers through the chemically homogeneous evolution pathway. Scientists spot a black hole 1,000 light-years away; termed 'closest one to Earth'

Scientists have recently found a black hole which is possibly the nearest one from the Earth. It is nearly 1000 light-years away. The new research was published in the Astronomy & Astrophysics science journal on 6th May 2020.

According to Science News, the Milky Way may probably have 100 million to a billion black holes. The masses of these black holes may range from 100 times more than the sun. But, often these black holes remain invisible in space.

Milky Way galaxy map unveiled as astronomers reveal Earth is heading toward a black hole

The 3-D Milky Way map was created using data from the European Space Agency's Gaia space probe that’s been scanning the stars since 2013.

It allows astronomers to measure acceleration and hopefully find out how much the universe has expanded since the dawn of time.

The ESA unveiled the map and uploaded a mesmerizing  YouTube video  of how stars move in the Milky Way.

The ESA said: “The new Gaia data have allowed astronomers to trace the various populations of older and younger stars out towards the very edge of our galaxy – the galactic anticenter.

Victoria: The Covid 'black hole' set to hit next year

The state's president of the Australian Hotels Association (AHA), Davis Canny, made the revelation while chatting to Melbourne's radio station 3AW on Monday.

Patron limits at pubs, cafes and restaurants will be scrapped, but venues must observe the one-person-per-two-square-metre rule.

"We're…worried about the black hole that's coming in April next year when these things stop, landlords want their rent, banks want their money, JobKeeper dries up," Mr Canny said.

Best of KC 2020: Blackhole Bakery on Troost overcame the odds

Six months ago, if you had asked us, “Should I open a bakery in the middle of a pandemic?” our answer would have been a bloodcurdling scream. Fortunately, Jason Provo didn’t ask. The pastry chef opened Blackhole Bakery near 55th and on Troost in April, just a few weeks after shutdown orders and capacity restrictions fell over the city’s dining scene like a lead curtain.

While those cinnamon rolls and donuts are fan favorites, we keep coming back for Blackhole’s French pastries, which are all crisp edges and shatteringly light layers. Recent highlight: a coconut-mossed pastry with a dab of crème pâtisserie to adhere a beautifully charred ring of fresh pineapple. As a general rule here: the weirder the flavor combo sounds, the better it probably is.

Scientists are questioning if there is any upper size limit to black holes either within or beyond the observable universe.

Noble-Prize laureate Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, for whom NASA's Chandra X-Ray Observatory was named, described black holes the only elements in their construction are our concepts of space and time," which has inspired astrophysicists to question how big these paradoxical objects, these "Gates of Hell" that have no memory, yet are said to contain the earliest memories of the universe, might become?

The titanic explosion in galaxy cluster MS 0735 first detected in 2005 held the record as the most powerful black hole cataclysm in the universe prior to the discovery in 2020 of the Ophiuchus galaxy cluster blast -a gargantuan event, a cataclysm that blasted a hole in the cosmos 15 times the size of the Milky Way galaxy.
