Many things are taking place:

Scientists Propose Permanent Human Habitat Built Orbiting Ceres

A group of Finnish researchers are proposing a permanent human habitat in the orbit of Ceres, a massive asteroid and dwarf planet in the asteroid belt, between Mars and Jupiter.

According to the team, this "megasatellite settlement" could be built by collecting materials from Ceres itself.

If that sounds familiar to fans of the popular sci-fi book and TV series "The Expanse," that's because in that fictional universe, Ceres Station plays a pivotal role as one of humanity's first human off-world colonies. In the series, however, the space rock itself was spun up to create a crewed habitat on its surface with artificial gravity.

Spacecraft orbiting Jupiter finds FM radio signal coming from a moon

The Juno spacecraft orbiting Jupiter has discovered an FM radio signal coming from the moon Ganymede. The find is a first-time detection from the moon .

Juno was traveling across the polar region of Jupiter — where magnetic field lines connect to Ganymede — when it crossed the radio source. Scientifically, it is called a "decametric radio emission."

"It's not E.T.," said Patrick Wiggins, one of NASA's Ambassadors to Utah. "It's more of a natural function."

Japan, US launch plan to build lunar orbiting outpost

TOKYO: Japan and the United States on Wednesday formally launched a plan to build a lunar orbiting outpost, a key part of a Nasa-led program to land astronauts on the Moon by 2024.

Japan will provide technical expertise in the construction of the Gateway, to be used by astronauts as a base for the Artemis lunar exploration program, under the memorandum of understanding between Japan and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration signed at the end of December, the Japanese Foreign Ministry said.

Characterizing Atmospheres of Transiting Earth-like Exoplanets Orbiting M Dwarfs with James Webb

Atmospheric detection signal-to-noise ratio for a hypothetical exo-Earth orbiting TRAPPIST-1 with NIRSpec/PRISM and an integration time of one transit at a fixed distance of 10 pc. Signal-to-noise contributions from key individual species are shown via shading.

A number of transiting, potentially habitable Earth-sized exoplanets have recently been detected around several nearby M dwarf stars. These worlds represent important targets for atmospheric characterization for the upcoming NASA James Webb Space Telescope.

Japan Pledges to Provide Capabilities for NASA's In-the-Works, Moon-Orbiting Outpost - Nextgov

Japan is the latest nation to officially commit resources and pledge to produce necessary capabilities for NASA's planned lunar Gateway, a moon-orbiting outpost set to provide a brief in-space home base and vital support as a key element of the Artemis program.

America's space agency recently finalized an agreement with Japan's government, under which the latter will supply components for the Gateway's International Habitation module, or I-Hab, among multiple other responsibilities.
