Missions to Mars, the Moon and Beyond Await Earth in 2021 - The New York Times
About a month after the new year has started on Earth, three spacecraft will pull into the vicinity of Mars. These explorers, which launched in July last year, will be heralds of a busy year of space exploration, launches and astronomical occurrences.
Never miss an eclipse, a meteor shower, a rocket launch or any other astronomical and space event that's out of this world.
The United Arab Emirates, China and the United States all launched robotic missions to Mars last summer , seeking shortened voyages during the period every two years when Earth is closest to the red planet. The three spacecraft will join a bustling community of explorers either in orbit or on the planet's surface.

'Too Long; Didn't Watch' Recap: Kumail Nanjiani Talks 'Veronica Mars' - Rolling Stone
Welcome to the latest episode of Too Long; Didn’t Watch , a new podcast produced by Rolling Stone and OBB Sound, presented by Google Assistant, and hosted by yours truly. In each episode, we attempt a new method of scaling Peak TV, by pairing a celebrity guest with a series they’ve never seen and showing them only the very first and very last episodes, to see if they can figure out what in the world happened in between.
For this week’s episode, we welcome actor, Oscar-nominated screenwriter, pop-culture superfan, and shockingly buff dude Kumail Nanjiani to watch Veronica Mars , the high school noir starring Kristen Bell, as a teen gumshoe in a town with no middle class. It’s another fun conversation, but also one that added a complicated wrinkle to the TLDW formula, namely:
Mars is a dead planet, and that's what makes it so interesting - SBNation.com
Mars is dead. As corpses go, it's pretty interesting: volcanos so big they might have altered the planet's rotation ; enough atmosphere to support seasonal weather patterns; a cleft in its surface that makes the Grand Canyon look like a roadside ditch; polar ice caps; tantalizing, suggestive geological features. It's interesting enough that humanity has spent some time and effort getting to know it.
As of this writing there is a little plutonium-powered robot scootching around on the floor of one of Mars' craters, getting to know the planet still further. Curiosity is the latest in a line of celebrated Mars expeditions, which began with the Vikings in the 1970s and continue to be despatched, with intermittent success, up to the present day. Our robots, however, are just the vanguard.
Elon Musk Replies to SpaceX Mars Game Developer After 154 Tweets | IE
Lyubomir Vladimirov was not shy and did not hold back in asking Musk permission for the use of the company's name and logo, as he sent him 154 tweets , reported Entrepreneur .
Vladimirov set out with the intention to send the same message to Musk on Twitter every day for 365 days, or until Musk responded, and he finally heard back on day 154.
It was certainly a gutsy move, messaging Musk every day, but it may have paid off. The message in question asked "Dear Elon, I'm a game dev. and I am making a game about colonizing Mars with you and SpaceX in it. If you think it's cool, all I need is the "Go ahead" to use your name and logos. I will post this every day for a year or until I get a Yes or a No! 154/365."
