Enter this charity-driven sweepstakes to join the crew of the first all-civilian mission to space.
Up until the new millennium, only professional astronauts were able to leave the Earth and head for the stars. But now, space is beginning to open up to civilians — at least those with big enough bank accounts. Later this year, however, one lucky individual will launch into zero gravity, potentially for free, as part of the first all-civilian space mission.

This year is shaping up to be just as interesting. Here are some of the missions to keep an eye out for.
Space X to launch world's first all-civilian mission in 2021
This year will mark the first-ever space mission for non-professional astronauts, as four civilians embark on a galactic voyage with Space X – billionaire Elon Musk's space exploration company. Not only that but anyone can win the chance of becoming one of the four.
American billionaire Jared Isaacman – founder of credit card processing company Shift4Payments – will be among the passengers on the mission, named Inspiration 4 . While he has not publicly stated how much his ticket to space has cost him, he confirmed he has committed to donating US$100 million to fund the Space X voyage.

Chinese spacecraft enters Mars' orbit, joining Arab ship
The arrival of Tianwen-1 after a journey of seven months and nearly 300 million miles (475 million kilometers) is part of an unusual burst of activity at Mars: A spacecraft from the United Arab Emirates swung into orbit around the red planet on Tuesday, and a U.S. rover is set to arrive next week.
China's space agency said the five-ton combination orbiter and rover fired its engine to reduce its speed, allowing it to be captured by Mars' gravity.
"Entering orbit has been successful ... making it our country's first artificial Mars satellite," the agency announced.

Jeff Bezos's next act: Getting Blue Origin, his space company, off the ground - The Washington
They had just been to a matinee of "October Sky," the film based on the starry-eyed memoir of Homer Hickam, the author and former NASA engineer. And now Jeff Bezos and his friend Neal Stephenson were sitting in a coffee shop, Hickam's dreams of one day building rockets to go to space still fresh in their minds.
Bezos said he had always wanted to start a space company , and Stephenson, the author, said, "Well, why don't you start it today?"

For years, Bezos has spent one day a week, usually Wednesdays, at Blue Origin, the space company he founded in 2000. Many in the space community hope that soon he will be spending more time at the company, injecting a sense of urgency into Blue Origin's activities at a time when NASA is pushing to return astronauts to the moon , space tourism is close to reality and the commercial space industry continues to grow.
The Midnight Sky Spaceship Design Explained in New Featurette
We at Collider are happy to exclusively share a behind-the-scenes look at the production design of the Netflix original sci-fi film The Midnight Sky . When crafting this adaptation of the Lily Brooks-Dalton novel Good Morning, Midnight , director George Clooney wanted the space-set scenes to reflect the potential reality of space travel rather than inventing a spaceship that didn't make much practical sense.
The main problem to solve was generating gravity onboard the ship, which is usually portrayed in cinema by a circular design. But for The Midnight Sky , they went with a baton design that twirls in space, generating its own gravitational force.
