“For 60 years we’ve had satellites out in space looking back at planet Earth and giving us a good idea of what’s going on,” said Dr. Bridget Seegers, NASA research scientist.
Landsat 9 is the latest in a series of Earth observation satellites that’s expected to launch in September 2021. The satellite is being built by NASA and will be monitored by the United States Geological Survey.
Dr. Seegers says satellites like Landsat 9 have enabled scientists to study issues such as deforestation, growing urban centers, and water quality. The first Landsat launched in 1972 to begin sending back images.

Astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) have had to devise some creative sleeping arrangements, because the orbiting lab is a little crowded right now.
Four more spaceflyers arrived at the ISS this morning (April 24) via SpaceX's Crew-2 mission, bringing the total number of astronauts aboard the station to 11. That's a lot, considering the orbiting lab usually hosts six people at a time (though there have been as many as 13 crewmembers aboard at once).

A ridge of high pressure will build into the area starting early Monday morning. The south to southwest flow will help bring temperatures back above average and into the lower 70s on Monday. Highs most of the week will surpass 60° and top out in the low 80s on Tuesday. Rain chances will stay low until a cold front moves through Wednesday and Thursday taking temperatures back down to the low 60s. The coldest start this week will be Monday morning with lows in the upper 30s.

Arianespace has launched its second mission of the year on Sunday 25 April at 22:14 UTC from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in the Russian Far East. The flight carried 36 more OneWeb satellites to Low Earth Orbit on board a Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle, operated in partnership with Starsem and Roscosmos.
The Soyuz-2.1b rocket made its 56th flight for Arianespace and its Starsem affiliate, and its third launch from Vostochny for Starsem (the eighth Soyuz launch from Vostochny overall). This mission was the sixth flight of the OneWeb internet satellite constellation, and it launched 36 satellites into a polar orbit inclined 87.4 degrees to the equator, at an altitude of approximately 450 kilometers.

NASA has shared a number of images showing what its upcoming Lunar Gateway space station will look like when it launches for the moon in 2024.
The agency said the orbiting laboratory would provide astronauts with a 'home away from home' during trips to the moon, and a staging post for lunar landings.
The orbiting lab will have a four person capacity and will see NASA work with some existing International Space Station partners including Europe, Japan and Canada .

A "super full moon" is coming on April 27, 2021, and coastal cities like Miami know that means one thing: a heightened risk of tidal flooding.
