With scientists constantly mapping, tracking, and visiting news of parts of our solar system, it’s understandable to think it’s impossible to discover something like a whole new moon. Luckily, our stellar neighborhood is massive beyond imagination. So, it is indeed possible!
As reported by Space.com , Ly was able to make the discovery by poring through images the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (below) captured in 2003. They were parsing through images of Jovian moons astronomers recently discovered.
Apollo 11’s Lunar Module Might Still Be Orbiting the Moon
After Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the Moon 52 years ago today in the Lunar Module (aka Eagle), they rode the ascent stage of the LM back to rendezvous with Michael Collins in the Command Module (aka Columbia).
However, an amateur space fan wanted to narrow down the possible impact location and used orbit modelling software to propagate the orbit forwards in time until it hit the moon.

Watch astronauts move their SpaceX Crew Dragon spaceship in orbit today ahead of Boeing's
NASA's SpaceX Crew-2 astronauts on the International Space Station are preparing to relocate the Crew Dragon spacecraft Endeavour ahead of Boeing's Starliner spacecraft arrival next weekend.
The relocation will take place on Wednesday (July 21), when NASA astronauts Shane Kimbrough and Megan McArthur, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) astronaut Akihiko Hoshide and European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Thomas Pesquet will move Endeavour from the forward port of the space
EarthSky | 1st images from rebooted Hubble telescope
Astronomers are breathing easier this week, since the Hubble Space Telescope has come back online. The orbiting telescope had been in a protective safe mode since June 13, 2021. And a team of experts worked feverishly to repair it throughout late June and early July.
This is so much more than a recovery of a telescope. It is a recovery of the hopes and dreams of the hundreds of people involved in bringing Hubble back online over the past month, and of those countless others who have worked on the mission since its inception five decades ago.

Last May, while examining high-resolution photographs as part of a routine inspection, the Canadian Space Agency spotted a five-millimetre hole in the Canadarm2, the robotic arm that services the International Space Station.
Engines for Artemis 3 mission to the moon tested at Stennis
The last time Americans set foot on the moon was in 1972. But Apollo 17 won't be the last mission.
The Artemis 3 mission will launch in 2014 and will land the first woman on the moon and the first person of color. The engines for Artemis missions are being tested at Stennis Space Center in Hancock County.
