Fastest-orbiting asteroid in solar system discovered | Space

The space rock, known as 2021 PH27, completes one lap around our star every 113 Earth days, its discoverers determined. That's the shortest orbital period of any known solar system object except the planet Mercury , which takes just 88 days to loop around the sun.

However, 2021 PH27 travels on a much more elliptical path than Mercury does and therefore gets considerably closer to the sun — about 12.4 million miles (20 million kilometers) at closest approach, compared to 29 million miles (47 million km) for the solar system's innermost planet.

The five most impressive geological structures in the solar system

David Rothery is Professor of Planetary Geosciences at the Open University.

When we talk about amazing geological features, we often limit ourselves to those on Earth. But as a geologist, I think that's crazy – there are so many structures on other worlds that can excite and inspire, and that can put processes on our own planet into perspective.

Are We In A Cosmic Melting Pot?

Detected in 2019, the Borisov comet was the first interstellar comet known to have passed through ... [+] our solar system

The research also suggests that some asteroids in the inner Solar System might also have interstellar origins.

They're the latest theories in an incredible new chapter in astronomy that began on August 30, 2019 when Crimean amateur astronomer Gennady Borisov discovered comet 2I/Borisov, a giant snowball of dust whose speed and trajectory indicated that it had come from beyond our Solar System.

Illinois HOA sues residents over solar system – pv magazine USA

Biden should get in on the act and urge Congress to nullify all HOA solar agreements, past and present.
There is absolutely no reason to make homeowners conform to such unlawful agreements!

Good for the Bassler family. I hope the court puts the HOA in its place and they have to pay all the Bassler’s attorney and court costs.

New clues regarding solar system formation discovered | Dhaka Tribune

A region of active star formation in the constellation Ophiuchus is giving astronomers new insights into the conditions in which our own solar system was born, suggests a latest study.

These radioactive elements could have been blown onto the nascent solar system by a nearby exploding star (a supernova) or by the strong stellar winds from a type of massive star known as a Wolf-Rayet star.
