It seems like every week, another rocket is launched into space carrying rovers to Mars , tourists or, most commonly, satellites . The idea that " space is getting crowded " has been around for a few years now, but just how crowded is it? And how crowded is it going to get?
Mike Lynch’s Skywatch: The King and his orbiting court – Twin Cities
While you're enjoying the full harvest moon this week, check out the King and Queen of the planets in our September skies. As darkness sets in, look for them side by side in the low southeast skies. They're the brightest star-like objects in that part of the heavens.
Jupiter is by far the largest planet in our solar system, and is mainly a big ball of hydrogen and helium gas. Its polar diameter is around 83,000 miles, and the diameter at the equator is a little over 88,000 miles. Jupiter is fatter in the middle because of its rapid rotation.
Civilian SpaceX Crew Returns to Earth After Orbiting for 3 Days
The team, known as Inspiration4, re-entered our planet's atmosphere Saturday in a Dragon capsule -- getting burnt up badly as it barrels down to Earth, to be expected in these types of voyages. Luckily, there was some major parachuting going on to slow this puppy down ...
Anyway, when they finally did make contact -- it made for a dramatic splash. Not too dramatic though ... SpaceX had rescue ships at the ready to pick up the passengers and take them back to shore -- which they're in the middle of doing now. It went about as as smoothly as one could hope for.
