Engineering professor developing model detecting ice on Mars – The GW Hatchet
An engineering professor is programming a satellite that will orbit Mars in search of ice underneath the planet's surface.
Roger Lang, a professor of electrical and computer engineering, said he received a $100,000 grant from NASA earlier this month to devise a mathematical model that will program a satellite to orbit Mars and find ice under the planet's dust-like surface.

NASA orbiter spots Pink Floyd album cover lookalike on Mars - CNET
This dramatic Mars surface formation bears a resemblance to the album cover for Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon."
When you stare at pictures of the red planet as much as the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter camera team does, you're bound to start seeing some funny things, like class rock album covers etched into the surface of another planet.
Noble Gas Hints at Mars's Rapid Formation - Eos
Noble gases and their isotopes tell the tale of rocky planet formation. Because these gases do not react with other species, they store the earliest atmospheric records of terrestrial planets like Mars.
State-of-the-art modeling of atmospheric processes has revealed that neon should escape the Martian atmosphere in less than a hundred million years. However, the large amount of neon that Viking landers found in the Martian atmosphere suggested that the gas is being replenished over time.
Bruno Mars' new shows in Las Vegas will be a phone-free experience
HONOLULU (KHON2) — Multi-GRAMMY Award-winning superstar and Hawaii-born Bruno Mars has announced more shows in Las Vegas.

The Key to Mars Colonization May (Literally) Lie in Human Blood, Sweat, and Tears, New Study
Colonization of the Red Planet may seem like the plot of a classic sci-fi page turner, but, as of late, NASA has made significant headway into creating a livable, sustainable, human-ready environment on Mars.
One of the greatest obstacles to creating livable colonies on the Red Planet boils down to one word: resources.
Twitter lights up with Mars images by Hope Probe - SatellitePro ME
Space enthusiasts around the world are taking to Twitter to post their own depictions of Mars, drawing from data shared by the UAE.
The Emirates Mars Mission released its first full science data set, including data from its three instruments, on October 1. About 500 images from the Emirates Exploration Imager (EXI) system are included in the data set and thousands more are expected with the next release in January 2022.
