Biomanufacturing companies getting hit by hackers potentially linked to Russia | TheHill

Large biomanufacturing companies, including those that produce medications and vaccines tied to the COVID-19 pandemic, are being targeted by hackers potentially tied to Russia, researchers disclosed Monday.

The Bioeconomy ​​Information Sharing and Analysis Center (BIO-ISAC) revealed the ongoing effort, which involves a type of malware labeled "Tardigrade" that was first detected following a ransomware attack on an unnamed major biomanufacturing facility this spring.

Hackers Circle as Individual Investors Pour Cash Into Crypto - WSJ

Rosa Maguina plowed a big chunk of her savings into cryptocurrency early this year, joining other individual investors trying to strike while bitcoin was hot. The funds vanished after a hacker hijacked her phone number for just two hours.

"It was like someone coming through the window or backdoor into your house," Ms. Maguina said. "You feel that there's nothing you can do."

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Tech giant Apple AAPL, +0.24% announced Tuesday it is suing Israel's NSO Group, seeking to block the world's most infamous hacker-for-hire company from breaking into Apple's products, like the iPhone.

"State-sponsored actors like the NSO Group spend millions of dollars on sophisticated surveillance technologies without effective accountability. That needs to change," said Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of software engineering.

Hackers used this software flaw to steal credit card details from thousands of online retailers |

Over 4,000 online retailers have been warned that their websites had been hacked by cybercriminals trying to steal customers' payment information and other personal information.

The majority of the online shops that cybercriminals exploited for payment-skimming attacks were compromised by known vulnerabilities in the e-commerce platform Magento . Most of those affected and alerted to the compromises and vulnerabilities are small and medium-sized businesses.

Hackers hit Iran's Mahan airline, claim confidential data theft

One of Iran's largest privately-owned airlines, Mahan Air, has announced a cybersecurity incident that has resulted in its website going offline and potentially data loss.

As the firm announced on Twitter, dealing with hacker attacks is nothing out of the ordinary for them, so even though some damage has been done, the flight schedules won't be affected.
