Venus and the moon make a dazzling duo in the night sky tonight (Dec. 6), starting the moon's multi-day journey past a slew of planets.
Venus , playfully known by many as the "evening star," is the brightest object in the night sky (barring the moon) right now, and it will be at its most brilliant tonight as it makes its way toward the sun (from our perspective looking at the sky), which it will pass closely by this January.

Military interest in the moon is ramping up | Space
There is growing interest in protecting strategic assets in cislunar space, the realm between Earth and the moon.

Astro Bob: Venus, Moon tangle Monday night | Park Rapids Enterprise
Cross your fingers for clear or at least partly cloudy skies Monday night because there's a show in store. The crescent moon, fresh off the recent solar eclipse, will join Venus in conjunction at dusk. Watch for them from 30 minutes to an hour after sunset low in the southwestern sky.
It looks like the moon, but this is Venus through a telephoto lens. The view through binoculars is similar. Now until late December is the best time to see a crescent Venus in the evening sky. Contributed / Bob King

The dusty surface of the moon — immortalized in images of Apollo astronauts’ lunar footprints — formed as the result of asteroid impacts and the harsh environment of space breaking down rock over millions of years.
“Using careful data processing, we found interesting new evidence that this buried layer, called paleoregolith, may be much thicker than previously expected,” said Tieyuan Zhu, assistant professor of geophysics at Penn State.

Should Investors Ride Tech Founders to the Moon? - WSJ
Twitter TWTR 5.70% co-founder Jack Dorsey's resignation letter included some parting words of caution: Being "founder-led," he wrote, can be "severely limiting and a single point of failure" for a business.
The advice probably fell on deaf ears. As Mr. Dorsey wrote: "There aren't many founders who choose their company over their own ego." And, in another sign that irony is dead, he remains chief executive of payments company Square Inc.
