Beneath Canyons on Mars, Astronomers Find Potentially 'Water-Rich Area the Size of the
Located below the Red Planet's equator, the Valles Marineris is one of the largest known series of canyons in the solar system. About a meter beneath the valley's surface, astronomers have now detected a large amount of hydrogen, reports Michelle Starr for Science Alert .
While water has been previously known to exist on Mars, most of it is found as ice caps near the poles. Water and ice have never been found at the surface near the equator, however, because temperatures are not cold enough for it to be stable, per a statement .

The #MarsHelicopter keeps going, going, going! Ingenuity successfully completed its 18th flight, adding 124.3 seconds to its overall time aloft on the Red Planet. It flew 754 feet (230 meters) at a speed of 5.6 mph (2.5 m/sec) & took images along the way.
Sols 3333-3343: Holiday Prepping on Mars – NASA's Mars Exploration Program
On Mars, like Earth, we are prepping for the holidays. Today we planned an eleven sol plan which will take us to the end of December. For this plan, the ENV instruments take the main stage, with lots of REMS activities and a rare day-long DAN passive experiment.
With such a long complex plan, contact science had to be short and sweet today.

Smart robots could automatically identify Mars rocks - Sciworthy
Have you ever wondered how a computer automatically identifies a picture of a koala or the Sahara Desert? To do this, humans train the computer to know what a koala or desert looks like. Later, the trained computer can recognize new images of koalas and deserts.
The NASA Mars Curiosity rover does this to drive around rocks and boulders without hitting them. It uses software called AEGIS, which powers the “brains” of the rover’s robotic cameras and tells it whether there’s a rock ahead.
