“It looks like a shopping cart with eyes and a personality,” started Ali Kashani, CEO of Serve Robotics, a West Hollywood startup with investments from Uber and 7-Eleven.

How robots and bubbles could soon help clean up underwater litter

Many people love to visit the seaside, whether to enjoy the physical benefits of an exhilarating swim or simply to relax on the beach and catch some sun.

The robots are an example of new innovations being developed to clean up underwater litter. Oceans are thought to contain between 22 and 66 million tons of waste, which can differ in type from area to area, where about 94 percent of it is located on the seafloor.

Coachella Valley worker shortage brings robots, closures and higher wages

Bob Novello has been searching for workers for months. He will need about 60 to staff the Rancho Mirage location of Enzo's Bistro and Bar. To date, he has found none.

"I should know in the next two weeks if we're going to make it or not," Novello said. "(I'll know) whether we've hired some people and if we can hire some people I think we're on our way to getting open."
