See an asteroid photobomb James Webb as the telescope zips through space - CNET

The university observatory pointed out another, fainter object moving along below and in roughly the same direction as Webb in the field of view. That's asteroid (35452) 1998 DF10.

A wider view in a video shows yet another bonus asteroid -- (97743) 2000 HQ42 -- in the upper right corner. You may have to watch it a couple of times to spot both asteroids, but the telescope itself is easy to see.

Asteroids, the Moon and Mars: space missions to look forward to in 2022

Astronomers ended 2021 on a high with the launch on December 25 of the James Webb Space Telescope , a joint mission between the European Space Agency, Nasa and the Canadian Space Agency.

The telescope is now on the way to its destination, 1.5 million kilometres away from Earth, where it will begin a series of tests once it arrives in late January. If the mission goes to plan, we can expect to start receiving images from the telescope in mid-2022.

NASA's TESS finds 'mysterious' object causing light fluctuations in binary star system

Scientists studying the universe using NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) have come across something that is, to a large extent, 'mysterious'.

While analysis of TESS ' data shows TIC 400799224 to be a pair of stars, scientists are unable to determine which one is being orbited and what exactly is orbiting the star.

SpaceX Launch Today, First of 2022, Will Send Dozens of Starlink Satellites Into Orbit

The rocket, a partially reusable Falcon 9 model, will launch from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on January 6 at 4:49 p.m. EST. There is a backup launch window on January 7 at 4:28 p.m. if Thursday's launch cannot go ahead.

SpaceX says the first stage rocket booster propelling the satellites into space has been used three times before on other missions, including Inspiration4—the world's first all-civilian mission to orbit, which launched in September last year.

Jonah Hill's Don't Look Up Character Inspiration Makes Him More Unlikeable

Jonah Hill's Jason Orlean is one of Don't Look Up 's most unlikeable characters, and the inspiration for his personality makes him even more despicable.

Don't Look Up 's Jason Orlean appeared to be a parody of powerful children of powerful people who hold their positions by nepotism and nepotism alone, with many comparing him to a Donald Trump Jr. type of figure.

View from the Left: Looking back at what was good in 2021

Erich Maria Remarque, who wrote All Quiet on the Western Front, was correct in saying "human beings are a worse poison than schnapps and tobacco," adding "the more primitive we are, the more we believe ourselves to be.

Quite a few asteroids came within 0.07 lunar distances of the Earth last year. In April, an SUV-sized asteroid, traveling at 18,700 mph came within 12,000 miles of our atmosphere.
