How the James Webb Space Telescope began its voyage to the edge of time | Astronomy.com
NASA is currently aligning the 18 gold-coated mirrors on the $10 billion James Webb space telescope (JWST), the world's largest and most powerful technology of its kind.
It took a massive undertaking to deliver JWST, which weighs over 7 tons, to its current spot a million miles from Earth. Only the Ariane 5 rocket is powerful enough to lift such a heavy load — but even Ariane is not big enough to contain it.

The Space Review: Missions to Mercury: From Mariner to MESSENGER
If all goes to plan, the European Space Agency’s BepiColombo spacecraft will arrive at Mercury in December 2025. BepiColombo consists of two spacecraft that will circle the planet, one focusing on Mercury’s surface and the other, supplied by Japan, studying its magnetosphere.
In the mid-1970s, NASA considered a proposal to place a spacecraft in orbit around Mercury but rejected it. In 1990, NASA again evaluated a Mercury-orbiting mission. This would have involved two relatively large spacecraft similar to BepiColombo.
Astra scrubs return-to-flight rocket launch due to lightning risk | Space
The private spaceflight startup Astra on Monday called off its first attempt to launch a rocket since a failed flight last month due to the risk of lightning at its Alaska liftoff site.
Astra scrubbed the attempted launch of its Astra-1 mission Monday (March 14) at Pad LP-3B at the Pacific Spaceport Complex on Alaska's Kodiak Island after the foul weather thwarted a liftoff during a 27-minute window that opened at 12:22 p.m. EDT (9:22 a.m. PDT/1622 GMT).
NASA Criticized for Ending Pronoun Project - Scientific American
In a move that has been widely criticized, NASA leaders recently terminated a test project that allowed employees at the agency’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) to display pronouns in their official agency identifiers.
The project’s termination attracted public attention after it was described in an anonymous post on Reddit .

NASA astronauts on spacewalk prep space station for new solar array | Space
The International Space Station is now ready for the addition of an upgraded solar array after two NASA astronauts completed a nearly seven-hour spacewalk on Tuesday (March 15).
Expedition 66 crewmates Kayla Barron and Raja Chari secured brackets and erected struts at the base of one of the space station’s eight original power-providing arrays, preparing the area for the future installation of an ISS Roll-Out Solar Array (iROSA).
