White House proposes $26 billion NASA budget for 2023 | Space

Exploration, space technology and Earth science are among the priorities of the Biden administration in its 2023 NASA budget request released Wednesday (March 28)

War halts project to track wildlife from space | Science | AAAS

The past 2 weeks have been very good—and very bad—for Martin Wikelski and Walter Jetz.

The war in Ukraine appears to have grounded their project, the International Cooperation for Animal Research Using Space (ICARUS), just as it was getting off the ground.

Wikelski, an ornithologist at the University of Konstanz and the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior, and Jetz, a Yale University ecologist, say they are now fast-tracking planned efforts to put up other space-based receivers.

Strange new type of solar wave defies physics | Space

Scientists have detected a strange new type of high-frequency wave on the sun's surface, and the waves are moving three times faster than scientists thought was possible.

Scientists can't see into the sun's fiery depths, so they often measure the acoustic waves that move across its surface and bounce back toward its core to infer what's going on inside.

Spotlight On Space Solar Power As EU Skitters Away From Russian Gas

The idea of space solar power seemed a little off the wall when it first sailed across the CleanTechnica radar in 2013, but the very next year the US Naval Research Laboratory weighed in with this observation:

"What if you could capture solar power in space, then send it down to Earth? What if you could launch the hundreds of modules for such a satellite, then use robots to assemble the entire array in space ?
