Iceland emerging as popular practice site for moon and Mars exploration | Space

Iceland emerging as popular practice site for moon and Mars exploration | Space

Iceland is an increasingly popular testing zone for spacesuits, habitats and off-world vehicles.

Why is this, and what can such research contribute to humanity's quest to put boots back on the moon and set up a crewed outpost on Mars ?

Embarking upon the future of off-planet exploration is the Iceland Space Agency , a privately organized (not governmental) institution. The agency has a growing list of research projects underway and is helping nurture a space sector in the island nation.

Largest ever Hubble telescope survey reveals what makes some exoplanets hot | Space

An analysis of hundreds of hours of observations by the Hubble Space Telescope has revealed what makes some exoplanets incredibly hot.

In a new study, a team of scientists analyzed the atmospheres of 25 so-called hot Jupiters , exoplanets about as big as Jupiter. These planets, however, orbit extremely close to their parent stars, even closer than Mercury orbits to the sun, making them extremely hot.
