Huge explosion on sun unleashes major solar flare on Easter | Space

The sun unleashed a major solar flare over the Easter holiday weekend, sparking radio blackouts and setting the stage for more solar storms to come. 

The flare originated from Regions 2994 and 2993, a cluster of active sunspots that has seen "significant flaring" since it appeared on the eastern limb of the sun, according to the SWPC.

Two lab modules to be central work area on China's space ...

BEIJING, April 17 (Xinhua) -- The Wentian and Mengtian lab modules will be sent into space this year, and will become the central working area for astronauts in orbit after China's space station construction is completed, according to a press conference on Sunday.

The Wentian lab module will be launched in July and Mengtian in October, Hao Chun, director of the China Manned Space Agency, said at the press conference.

Watch SpaceX launch a US spy satellite and land a rocket today | Space

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket topped with the NROL-85 spacecraft is scheduled to lift off from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on Sunday at 9:13 a.m. EDT (1313 GMT; 6:13 a.m. local California time).

The NRO operates the United States' fleet of spy satellites. The activities and payloads of most of these spacecraft are classified, and NROL-85 is no exception; we don't know much about the satellite or what exactly it will do once it reaches orbit.

Solar storm could supercharge northern lights as far south as New York | Space

NASA's SpaceX Crew-3 astronauts ready to come home | Space

NASA astronauts Raja Chari, Tom Marshburn and Kayla Barron and European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Matthias Maurer launched with the SpaceX Crew-3 mission on Nov. 10.

The crew will return to Earth later this month, sometime after the next SpaceX crewed mission to the station, Crew-4, arrives and they hand over the station to the newcomers. With Crew-4's launch being delayed to April 23 , the exact date for Crew-3's return has not yet been set.
