NASA: Two Dangerous asteroids are heading for Earth; will they STRIKE us? | Tech News

NASA: After the quiet last week without any asteroid activity, two dangerous looking asteroids are now making their way towards Earth and will make their closest approach on Friday, April 22.

According to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory by NASA, these two asteroids headed towards the Earth are named 2022 GU3 and 2017 UR2. The 2022 GU3 is a 79-feet wide asteroid which can be compared to a Boeing 747 jet, while 2017 UR2 is 32-feet wide and is as large as a bus.

Inside Nasa mission to probe 'golden' asteroid worth £10quintillion in 2026

NASA is closing in on the launch of an ambitious mission to probe an asteroid worth an estimated 10,000 quadrillion dollars.

The space rock 16-Psyche is twice as wide as Wales and is nestled in the asteroid belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.

Discovered in 1852, it was once known as the "golden asteroid" as scientists believed it was mostly composed of the precious metal.

Distant asteroid now bears Tagish adventurer Skookum Jim’s name – Port Alberni Valley ...

The asteroid dubbed Skookumjim has a diameter estimated between eight and 19 kilometres in diametre. It takes more than five earth years for it to complete and orbit around the sun.

In 2018, the Yukon Astronomical Society was contacted by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada to provide a potential name for an asteroid. Their suggestion to name the asteroid after Skookum Jim was accepted by the International Astronomical Union.
