See 4 planets line up with the moon in the predawn sky | Space

Four worlds are going to line up with the moon on Saturday (April 23), and it will be worth getting up early to see the show.

Most of these worlds will be pretty bright, particularly Venus (magnitude -4.4), Mars (magnitude 1.1) and Saturn (0.9), notes Sky & Telescope . For perspective, most people can see stars as faint as magnitude 6 in the night sky, given dark enough conditions.

Planetary science decadal endorses Mars sample return, outer planets missions - SpaceNews

WASHINGTON — A study outlining priorities in planetary science for the next decade backs continued efforts to return samples from Mars while recommending NASA pursue missions to the planet Uranus and an icy moon of Saturn.

At ODC, 'w o w m o m' Is a Multimedia Dance Ode to the Planets | KQED

For many, astrology is part jest and part moral compass. It’s how people either understand (or diagnose) themselves and their loved ones, but it's also a belief framework for interpreting the past, present and an unknown future.

Humans have practiced astrology for centuries (long before Walter Mercado was immortalized as a queer icon), though the practice seems to be reaching an apex of popularity in mainstream culture. Astrology memes have proliferated on Instagram, and tarot card sales boomed in the pandemic .

Four planets to appear in a line, a rare occurrence

A fifth planet, Mercury, will be visible in the sky but not at the same time, with Mercury visible in the evening but disappearing before the others become visible in the morning.

Jupiter, Venus, Mars and Saturn will align in a diagonal line in pre-dawn hours this week, joined by the moon. The quartet can be seen in the east-southeast sky before dawn, with planets distinguishable based on the fact they are brighter and twinkle less than stars.

Buresh Blog: '22 Hurricane Forecast... Nat. Hurricane Conference... Planets Line Up...

So another active Atlantic tropical season is forecast. Much of the forecast is predicated on an ongoing La Nina (cooling of the equatorial Pacific) + somewhat warmer than avg. sea surface temps. across parts of the Atlantic.

I spent some time in mid April at the annual National Hurricane Conference. Lots of discussions about working together to help areas impacted by landfalling hurricanes. The photo below is Ken Graham, Director of the National Hurricane Center:

NASA expert talks about upcoming space events

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - There's rarely ever a lull in things to see in the night sky. From the International Space Station, to the latest meteor showers, to planets that look like stars.

For those early-risers, there's a special treat to see 45 minutes before sunrise through the end of April. Jupiter, Venus, Mars and Saturn will be visible just before sunrise in the southeastern sky. No binoculars needed, although, Mars will be quite faint.

Venus' Atmosphere Stops it From Locking to the Sun - Universe Today

Of the thousands of exoplanets we’ve discovered, most of them closely orbit red dwarf stars . Part of this is because planets with short orbital periods are easier to find, but part of this is that red dwarf stars make up about 75% of the stars in our galaxy.

Earth’s pull isn’t uniform across the Moon. It’s a bit stronger on the part of the Moon closer to Earth, which distorts the Moon’s shape just a bit.

Diagnostic Potential Of A Mid-infrared Space-interferometer For Studying Earth Analogs - ...

An important future goal in exoplanetology is to detect and characterize potentially habitable planets.

Results suggest that particularly O3 and CH4 yield an improved abundance estimate by doubling the S/N from 10 to 20.
