Satellites have been around for more than half a century now, with Russia's Sputnik 1 being the first satellite launched way back in 1957. Since then, the technology has evolved tremendously with newer and more sophisticated satellites making their way to space.
Eighteen-mile-wide crater on Mars looks like a huge eye
The image shows Aonia Terra, an upland region in the southern highlands of Mars, and was captured by ESA's Mars Express on 25 April 2022.
The 19-mile unnamed crater at the centre of the image is nestled within a landscape of winding channels, which are likely to have carried liquid water across the surface of Mars around 3.5–4 billion years ago.
China proposes alien planet mission to hunt habitable worlds | Space
A proposed Chinese mission would look for nearby potentially habitable alien worlds by launching a spacecraft to make ultraprecise measurements of how orbiting planets make a star wobble.
For this mission, called the Closeby Habitable Exoplanet Survey (CHES), the scientists would use a method called micro-arcsecond relative astrometry.
