India on a par with advanced nations in space science, says Sivan - The Hindu

K. Sivan, former Chairman of ISRO, and N. Sivasubramanian, retired scientist, at the Innovative Incubation Unit at Sermathai Vasan College for Women in Madurai on Friday.

"Women are better at multi-tasking and handling complex situations," said K. Sivan, former Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), here on Friday.

50 years ago, U.S. and Soviet leaders agreed to collaborate on science | Science News

U.S. and Soviet leaders … signed agreements on space, science and technology, health and the environment…. The space agreement … outlines plans for cooperation in fields such as meteorology, study of the natural environment, planetary exploration and space biology.

The 1972 space agreement led to the first inter­national human spaceflight , the Apollo-Soyuz mission, during which Soviet and U.S. crews socialized in space ( SN: 7/26/75, p. 52 ). Apollo-Soyuz encouraged decades of collaboration that continues today on the International Space Station.

New director of NASA's storied Jet Propulsion Lab takes on ballooning mission costs | Science | AAAS

NASA's DAVINCI Space Probe To Plunge Through Hellish Atmosphere of Venus

By Nancy Neal Jones, NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center June 4, 2022 NASA's DAVINCI mission will study the origin, evolution, and present state of Venus in unprecedented detail from near the top of the clouds to the planet's surface.

DAVINCI is tentatively scheduled to launch June 2029 and enter the Venusian atmosphere in June 2031. "No previous mission within the Venus atmosphere has measured the chemistry or environments at the detail that DAVINCI's probe can do," said Garvin.

China's space station to serve scientific research as versatile lab - SHINE News

China's Tiangong space station, designed to be a versatile space lab, is capable of accommodating 25 experiment Cabinets for scientific exploration, announced the China Manned Space Agency on Saturday.

"Each Cabinet is a small-sized lab in space, capable of supporting single subject or interdisciplinary research in space science experiments," said Lin Xiqiang, deputy director of the agency, at a press conference.

NASA picks new experiments for commercial delivery to moon in 2026 | Space

Privately developed spacecraft will carry a new suite of science gear to the moon in 2026 to support NASA's Artemis lunar exploration program, if all goes according to plan.

The agency has selected two sets of instruments as a part of its Commercial Lunar Payload Services  (CLPS) initiative, which aims to study the moon's history and environment using gear delivered by privately developed landers and rovers.
