The Lesser-Known Robots of Yesterday | Johnston Sun Rise

The Lesser-Known Robots of Yesterday | Johnston Sun Rise

In the collectible toy world when you hear 1980’s you automatically think of Transformers, Gobots, Voltron, or maybe even Robotech. All of which were fantastic toy lines that correlated with an animated cartoon on television.

Jumping to present day as much as I truly love Transformers and their impact on my childhood, it does not get any better than GoDaikin. The history, design, the quality of the toys, I get excited just writing this article.

China Now Producing Cloned Pigs Using Only Robots

According to the South China Morning Post , a fully-automated cloning process now exists, and it apparently works like a charm.

Created by researchers at the University of Nankai's College of Artificial Intelligence, this tech — which the scientists tell the newspaper facilitated the birth of seven piglets via surrogate sow, without any human involvement — could potentially lead to commercialized cloning becoming a norm.

Watch humans and military robots train together | Popular Science

On June 2, at an army base in the forested interior of Belgium, a team of robots tentatively advanced through a mock battlefield.

The exercise centered on a vehicle called THeMIS, made by Estonia's Milrem Robotics, the company that was the lead coordinator for the 32.6 million euro (roughly $35 million) project.

These Flea-Sized Robots Look Like Creepy Crawlies - Nerdist

Ever see a bug and then can’t shake the feeling that something is crawling on you? Apologies in advance, but this article may give you that sensation. Scientists invented the world's smallest remote-controlled walking robot that is flea-sized.

The crab robots are about the size a flea at half a millimeter across, or 1/50th of an inch. They can get that small because they don't need batteries, wires, or electricity. Instead, the researchers used a technique inspired by children's pop-up books.

Robots and Good Jobs on the Other Side of ... | American Enterprise ...

The Wall Street Journal reports that "robots are turning up on more factory floors and assembly lines as companies struggle to hire enough workers to fill rising orders." Post-pandemic labor shortages are newly apparent in every industry, from baristas to bank tellers.

Daron Acemoglu, an economics professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, said factories' increasing reliance on automation will lead to an oversupply of human labor that will drive down wages in the years ahead, unless other U.S. industries can absorb displaced manufacturing workers.

New InOrbit Connect Certification Program Enables Companies to Easily Connect Robots to the Cloud

"Robots are the ultimate data-driven machines, yet it's still hard for people to get the right insights from their robots at the right time," said Florian Pestoni, co-founder and CEO of InOrbit.

"Through our work with InOrbit, we are getting critical operational data on our smart autonomous mobile robot, KIRA B 50," said Marco Cardinale, VP of Floor Care Solutions and Robotics at Kärcher.

Why Robots Need to See - Robotics Business Review

Most autonomous vehicle manufacturers incorporate high-end 3D LiDARs, along with additional sensors, into their vehicles so that they are provided with enough data to fully understand their surroundings and operate safely.

The LiDAR / vision debate continues to this day. But since that time there has been a steadily increasing emphasis on cameras and computer vision in the autonomous vehicle market.
