Are we alone? Where NC, other states rank in most UFO sightings | WNCT

In the Bible's Book of Ezekiel, a mysterious ship is described as appearing from the sky in Chaldea (modern-day Kuwait). Strange sightings were recorded around Rome in 218 B.C.

The term "UFO," short for "unidentified flying object," was coined in 1953 by the United States Air Force as a bucket term for unexplained sightings like these. Stateside sightings were hardly restricted to military flyover zones, however.

Will new NASA study move the needle on UFO research?

In early June, NASA announced that it's commissioning an independent study on unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), as UFOs have recently been rebranded.

The intent is to move the scientific understanding of UAP forward , said Thomas Zurbuchen, NASA's associate administrator for science.
