Where are those flowers and how far away are they? This is the crux of the 'waggle dance' performed by honeybees to alert others to the location of nectar-rich flowers.

If you have ever found yourself in a noisy environment, such as a factory floor, you may have noticed that humans are adept at communicating using gestures. Well, we aren't the only ones. In fact, honeybees take non-verbal communication to a whole new level.

When robots appear to engage with people and display human-like emotions, people may perceive them as capable of "thinking," or acting on their own beliefs and desires rather than their programs, according to research published by the American Psychological Association.

"The relationship between anthropomorphic shape, human-like behavior and the tendency to attribute independent thought and intentional behavior to robots is yet to be understood," said study author Agnieszka Wykowska, PhD, a principal investigator at the Italian Institute of Technology.

Teledyne wins Pentagon order for hundreds of bomb disposal robots

WASHINGTON – Teledyne FLIR Defense expanded its contract with the U.S. Department of Defense to provide nearly 500 unmanned robots to help with disarming landmines and unexploded ordnance.

The robots, called Centaurs, are used by the military to put service members at less risk when evaluating and defusing explosive weapons.

Robots are now helping nursing home residents in Minnesota - Bring Me The News

A Minnesota nursing home has become the first in the country to introduce robots to assist with the care of elderly residents.

A four-foot tall robot called Pepper and a two-foot tall robot called NAO made their debut this week at The Estates of Roseville.

Robots to aid growers with repetitive daily tasks

To grow healthy grapes and apples, weeding and spraying tasks need to be repeated several times during the growth process. Depending on the year – and if some pest occurs – more passages are required.

Robs4Crops is an EU-funded project – via the Horizon scheme – involving 16 partners across Europe. Universities, agricultural robots companies, and farmers are all part of the program. The venture started in January 2021 with Wageningen University coordination.
