JGR: Planets Author Aboard the International Space Station - Eos

As an undergraduate at Stanford University, I was originally a mechanical engineering major, but during my sophomore year I realized that I just wasn't passionate about the subject.

What led to your interest in studying landslides on Mars during your Ph.D, and what other Mars-related research have you done?

A passing star shifting Neptune's orbit could wreck the solar system | New Scientist

A neighbouring star getting too close to our solar system could drive it into pandemonium. Simulations suggest that a fly-by star would only need to nudge Neptune's position by three times the distance between the Earth and the sun to cause the planets to go haywire.

It may seem obvious that any significant shifts to a planet’s position could have a large effect on our solar system, but the new simulations suggest that this could …

'Thor: Love and Thunder': Natalie Portman Says 'Whole Sequences, Planets, and Characters' Were Cut

"It was really Taika who came to me, which was so incredible because he's a director and creative human I so admire," Portman said in a recent interview with IndieWire. "He came with the comic books where Jane becomes the Mighty Thor and was like, 'What do you think about this?

"Thor: Love and Thunder" partially draws upon a comic storyline first put into place during the 2014 run of the "event storyline" titled "Original Sin," which sees a) Thor no longer able to wield Mjolnir and b) the hammer subsequently being picked up by an obscured woman, who ends up being Jane.

Mysterious fast radio bursts could reveal hidden galactic matter | Space

Rapid bursts of radio waves that originate millions to billions of light-years away from Earth could be used as probes to investigate halos of difficult-to-see diffuse gas surrounding nearby galaxies.

New research shows that these pulses called fast radio bursts (FRBs), slow as they pass through the gas enveloping the galaxies between their source and Earth. This also has the effect of dispersing their radio frequencies.

Jupiter's core hides a disturbing cannibal past — study

More than a decade after its launch, observations from NASA's Juno probe — which embarked on a four-year extended mission last year — have revealed that the interior of Jupiter is far different than scientists had previously thought possible. The possible reason?

While Juno is far from the first probe to visit Jupiter's system — Pioneer 10 was the first of the gas giant's many flyby visitors nearly 50 years ago, and Galileo spent seven years orbiting the planet — it is the first to be able to make the kind of measurements of the world of extreme ...
