Scientists hope Webb will help solve 'dust budget crisis' | Space

Researchers hope to finally sort out the dust issue using the James Webb Space Telescope , which exits months of commissioning July 12 with the release of its first operational images .

Webb will be better positioned than many other observatories in catching sight of this elusive compound. With infrared light, it can peer through clouds of dust, and due to its deep-space orbit, it is far from interfering light sources that can mess up any calculations about dust abundance.

Higgs boson behaves just as expected, studies confirm | Space

The "most comprehensive studies" of the Higgs boson conducted to date reveal that the particle behaves just as expected and could help unlock some of the greatest mysteries of physics, including the nature of dark matter, scientists say.

Two new studies, based on 10,000 trillion proton-on-proton collisions conducted inside the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) during its second run, which ended in 2018, analyzed 8 million Higgs boson particles detected by the LHC's ATLAS and CMS detectors.

See the moon's 'Golden Handle' shine on Saturday | Space

Look up at the waxing gibbous with a pair of binoculars or a small telescope on Saturday (July 9) and enjoy the surface light effect known as the "Golden Handle".
