Michael Meyer , PhD, professor in the U-M department of astronomy, joins this episode of Michigan Minds to provide insight on the significance of the new images taken by NASA's James Webb Space Telescope (JWST).

Meyer's research focuses on how planets like Jupiter and Earth form around stars like the Sun in the Milky Way galaxy and his work involves infrared observations and characterizing young stars and planets, as well as mature planets around other stars, which we refer to as exoplanets.

China launches 2nd space station module to support science | Space

China is set to add a new compartment to its space station following the launch of the Wentian module early on Sunday. 

Wentian was sent on its way to orbit atop a Long March 5B heavy-lift rocket that blasted off at 2:25 a.m. EDT (0625 GMT or 2:25 p.m Beijing time) on July 24 from the Wenchang spaceport on the southern island of Hainan.

Community Observatory hosts out of this world event

What looks much like craggy mountains on a moonlit evening is actually the edge of a nearby, young, star-forming region NGC 3324 in the Carina Nebula.

Community Observatory on the Folsom Lake College – El Dorado Center campus has joined hundreds of sites across the country to celebrate the release of the first science images from the James Webb Space Telescope, NASA's next great space science observatory.

'Rocket Day' provides space ambition liftoff to more than 300 STEM NOLA students

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Hundreds of local K-12 students ignited their imaginations and perhaps space science and engineering ambitions Saturday (July 23) by launching rockets into the sky.

The annual STEM NOLA "Rocket Day" was held at the University of New Orleans' Lakefront Arena, where more than 300 students took part in fun activities designed to teach them about science.

Saudi students encouraged to learn space sciences, technology | Arab News

RIYADH: The Saudi Space Commission on Saturday opened registration for the second virtual "Go to Space" training camp. Registration will remain open until Aug. 6.

The commission is organizing the camp in collaboration with Teaching Science and Technology, Inc. The program aims to increase students' expertise in scientific subjects related to space by increasing awareness, knowledge and curiosity.

3D-printed space habitat designed to fit SpaceX Starship | Space

School-aged students at Institut auf dem Rosenberg, between ages 6 and 18, worked for years on a prototype for future astronauts that would fit inside the shell of SpaceX 's powerful Starship rocket.

The results, unveiled on Wednesday (July 20), show a light-infused structure created in partnership with Danish architecture firm SAGA Space Architects. The three-storey building includes dedicated spots for analog astronauts to work and relax.

SpaceX launches 53 Starlink satellites, lands Falcon 9 on droneship | Space
