Watch a bus-sized asteroid pass safely by Earth today | Space

At a nearest approach of 56,000 miles (90,000 kilometers), 2022 NF will come within about 23% of the distance to our moon. That's close in celestial terms, but still a very safe distance for Earth .

The flyby event is the project's tribute to 2022's Asteroid Day, according to Virtual Telescope Project founder Gianluca Masi. Asteroid Day is an Asteroid Foundation annual promotion of space rocks and planetary defense research that takes place on June 30.

Asteroid Bennu sports massive crater from tiny space rock | Space

Using images collected by NASA's OSIRIS-REx spacecraft, researchers have traced the progress of a landslide on the asteroid Bennu that resulted from an impact with another object.

The team determined that the way this "deep-space landslide" progressed would be possible only if Bennu had certain properties at its surface  —  namely, dry dust particles with little or no cohesion.

Why The Largest Asteroid Impact In Recorded History Still Puzzles Scientists

According to Marina Brozovic , a scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in California, the Earth is constantly bombarded by asteroids . Because they are so small, most burn up in the atmosphere before ever reaching the ground.

Jump back 114 years to 1908. At around 7:13 a.m. (local Siberia time) on June 30, something happened near the Podkamennaya Tunguska River in Siberia, Russia. This event has since become known as " The Tunguska Event .

Researchers simulate defence test against potential asteroid impacts on Earth

Washington : NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission is the world’s first full-scale planetary defence test against potential asteroid impacts on Earth.

66 million years ago, a giant asteroid impact on the Earth likely caused the extinction of the dinosaurs. Currently no known asteroid poses an immediate threat.

'Asteroid City': What we know about the new Wes Anderson film

WORDS Sonia Blair     PHOTOGRAPHY Pinterest     PUBLISHED Wed, 6 Jul 2022 - 11:00 am

An excellent question, given Anderson's films famously don't have linear, traditional plots (excluding The Grand Budapest Hotel ).

As with any new Anderson film, Asteroid City features a strong brood of Anderson favourites who have featured across filmography for more than 20 years.

What's in the July sky - here is when you should look up

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) -On July 4th, the earth will be at aphelion, our furthest point from the sun during our annual orbit. It's not something you can see but still cool to know. On this day, we'll be about 222,000 more miles from the sun than average.

On July 15th the Moon and Saturn will be conjunction. The two will appear about 4°02′ at their closest.

What a space industry bubble burst could mean for innovation, Space X, small startups

Between the lines: The parts of the industry that are expected to be hardest hit include those focused on far-future concepts like asteroid mining and startups working to innovate new rocket concepts that take a large amount of upfront funding.

What to watch: If the space bubble does pop, it's not clear whether it will be a slow leak or a rapid burst.

A Literal Adam Is Not the Issue | Answers in Genesis

To see how very inconsistent all old-earth compromise is, I urge readers to carefully consider my critique of Wayne Grudem's excellent but seriously flawed critique of theistic evolution .

Evolution is a three-part theory attempting to explain all of reality: cosmological, geological, and biological (including human) evolution. We cannot divide up the theory and just accept parts of it.
