Celebrate 45 years of Voyager with these amazing images | Space

For 45 years, NASA's twin probes Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 have been exploring our solar system and beyond as they currently roam through interstellar space.

Despite its name Voyager 2 launched before Voyager 1 , when it lifted off from Cape Canaveral Space Launch Complex 41 aboard a Titan IIIE-Centaur on Aug. 20, 1977. Voyager 1 followed suit about two weeks later on Sept. 5.

Grains of dust from asteroid Ryugu older than our solar system

Since the sample of dust collected by the probe returned to Earth, parts of it have been passed around the world to different researchers eager to test it in different ways.

In studying the Ryugu dust sample, the researchers compared them to grains found in carbonaceous chondrite meteorites that have been found on Earth.

10 Things: How We Spent Our Summer – NASA Solar System Exploration

The summer of 2022 was busy for us here at NASA. While we didn’t get to the beach, one of our space probes did some serious sunbathing. We made big progress on a new spacecraft that will fly over an ocean we think is deep inside an icy moon.

NASA's Parker Solar Probe completed its 12th close approach to the Sun on June 1, 2022, coming within 5.3 million miles (8.5 million kilometers) of the solar surface. (Don’t worry, we packed sunscreen !)

How a $100 Solar System Charges all my Electronics for Free | by C.C. Francis | Aug, 2022 | Medium

W hen people think of home solar, they imagine spending $15,000–25,000 for panels — another $10,000+ on a Tesla Powerwall or the like.

A foldable 21W solar panel sits in my driveway right now, charging two 25,000 mAh batteries. In two days, both batteries will be full.

Solar Cell, Module, Panel and Array: What's the Difference? - CNET

We'll explain how solar power works, including the difference between a solar cell, module, panel and array.

Residential solar systems use PV panels, which are made up of solar cells that absorb sunlight. The absorbed sunlight creates electrical charges that flow within the cell and are captured by solar panel wiring.

Carr Warns of Misleading Solar Power Offers | Office of Attorney General of Georgia Chris Carr

ATLANTA, GA – Attorney General Chris Carr is warning Georgians about misleading ads from rooftop solar marketers containing false promises, such as free solar, free electricity and no more electric power bills.

"Solar panel installation is a significant investment, whether you buy or lease a system," said Carr. "We strongly urge Georgians to thoroughly research whether this is the right solution for them and to confirm that the solar panel company they are considering is reputable."

Rising energy prices add to the case for residential solar | BrandAveStudios | stltoday.com

Residential solar systems have become a cheaper source of energy in recent years, but now surging energy prices are tipping the balance even further.

Some utility customers are experiencing a 12% to 20% increase in their utility bills, and costs could double in five to six years, says Kirk Apazeller, Managing Partner and Director of Sales for the St. Louis area Helio Solar Power .

Understanding the surprising narrowness of eccentric debris belts | astrobites

First author's institution: Cornell Center for Astrophysics and Planetary Science, Department of Astronomy, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY 14853, USA

In addition to the eight planets in our solar system, there are two interesting regions containing significantly increased densities of smaller bodies: the asteroid belt located between Mars and Jupiter, and the Kuiper belt at the very edge of the solar system.

Clean energy: City's new ground-mounted solar array nearly up and running

As the sun shines bright with temperatures in the mid-90s, Ross Mollenhauer walks past a large ground-mounted solar array just off Reserve Street.

Mullenhauer, the city's engineering manager, expects the panels to be up and running sometime between October and December of this year. When it is, it will be the largest ground-mounted array in the county.
