GEA installs solar system at Region One primary school - Stabroek News

A Region One primary school is set to benefit from a recently installed solar system as part of government's push to provide sustainable energy solutions in the hinterland areas.

A Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) release last Friday disclosed that on July 22, the Agency installed a 3.16kWp Solar PV system along with a 19.2kWh Valve-Regulated Lead-Acid (VRLA) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the Kamwatta Primary School in Region One.

Nasa unveils plans to send astronauts beyond Mars ahead of Artemis I mission to moon | The ...

Nasa hopes to establish its presence throughout the solar system as part of long-term plans to station its astronauts on Mars and beyond.

The unveiling of its ambitions to send humans to the Red Planet comes ahead of its mission to install a permanent settlement on the moon , the latest phase of which will take the shape of a six-week, uncrewed test flight of its Space Launch System rocket and the Orion spacecraft.

Getting rooftop solar can endanger your home insurance

As electric bills surge and the federal government offers generous tax incentives for renewable energy investments, more and more Florida homeowners are seriously considering rooftop solar systems.

But in calculating system costs vs. electric bill savings, many would-be solar owners are neglecting to consider how a solar system will affect their home insurance bill — or how difficult it might be to find a company that will insure them at all.

Friendly Rogues | StarDate Online

A rogue planet probably started out orbiting a star. It was kicked away from the star by the gravity of other planets in the system. And astronomers have discovered several dozen possible rogues.

For one thing, a rocky world similar to Earth should have radioactive elements in its core. Heat from the decay of these elements could keep water below an icy crust from freezing — a global ocean that could be miles deep.

Sky Shorts: NASA's DART mission to test asteroid deflector impactor

Back on July 26, astronomers were surprised to discover an asteroid wider than 2 football fields that eventually zoomed by Earth on Aug. 4. The asteroid known as 2022 OE2 orbits the Sun and crosses the path of Earth's orbit. Fortunately, it missed by a large margin!

Asteroids are rocky, airless remnants that orbit the Sun and are among the most ancient objects in the solar system. Asteroids are left over from the early formation of our solar system, about 4.6 billion years ago. By studying asteroids, we can learn about the history of the sun and planets.

ESA - Webb inspects the heart of the Phantom Galaxy

New images of the spectacular Phantom Galaxy, M74, showcase the power of space observatories working together in multiple wavelengths.

The Phantom Galaxy is around 32 million light-years away from Earth in the constellation Pisces, and lies almost face-on to Earth. This, coupled with its well-defined spiral arms, makes it a favourite target for astronomers studying the origin and structure of galactic spirals.

James Webb Space Telescope pictures of Jupiter, the Cartwheel galaxy, and more

Summer is almost over, and it's hard to believe it's been over a month since the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) images were first released, and seemingly everyone was ooh-ing and aah-ing over the very pretty pictures . My social media feeds are no longer buzzing about stars.

At the beginning of the month, JWST captured images from the Cartwheel galaxy . The galaxy, shown above, consists of two rings that resemble a wagon wheel (hence the name) and is located about 500 million light-years away from us.
