Can Robots Have Team Spirit? They Can Now - TechHQ

Robots are a fundamental park of the digital transformation of several sectors on industry, from manufacturing to warehouse management. But there has always been an issue with multiple robots (or drones) conducting collaborative actions.

But when those lines of communication are down, or unavailable, the collaboration quickly runs away from true and either becomes clunky or stops functioning altogether – neither of which is genuinely acceptable in the tight-margin, high-productivity business sectors that invest heavily in ...

Touchless interactive teaching of soft robots through flexible bimodal sensory interfaces | Nature ...

In this paper, we propose a multimodal flexible sensory interface for interactively teaching soft robots to perform skilled locomotion using bare human hands.

Humans can "teach" the robot to accomplish various tasks by manipulating the robot in a touchless manner.

Here, we develop a flexible bimodal smart skin (FBSS) with both tactile and touchless sensing by integrating a triboelectric sensor with a liquid metal sensor. The triboelectric sensor can respond to touchless stimulation, and the liquid metal sensor can respond to tactile stimulation.

Comparison of leg dynamic models for quadrupedal robots with compliant backbone | Scientific Reports

Many quadrupeds are capable of power efficient gaits, especially trot and gallop, thanks to their flexible trunk.

In our current work, we focus on such key feature, and aim at designing legged robots with high energy efficiency and speed using a compliant backbone. In the literature, research devoted to understanding and developing the mechanics of bending of the trunk can be found.

Robots may help take the heat off testing staff - Chinadaily.com.cn

Amid the sweltering heat waves that have roasted southern China for days, it's a tough challenge for medical staff wearing heavy protective suits to collect throat swabs at COVID-19 testing sites.

Now, a robot that has been jointly developed by Tsinghua University and Chinese biotech company Bioteke Corp could help relieve the medical workers from the scorching heat.

Chili's is pausing its test of server robots

The casual-dining chain, which has been testing robots to seat guests and run food in some of its restaurants, is halting the program as it intensifies its focus on improving sales and traffic.

New CEO Kevin Hochman said the company recently laid out all of the technology projects it's been working on and evaluated each on two variables: Its ability to drive sales and profits and the time and effort it would require to pull off.
