People have been dreaming of robot butlers for decades, but one of the biggest barriers has been getting machines to understand our instructions. Google has started to close the gap by marrying the latest language AI with state-of-the-art robots.

Human language is often ambiguous . How we talk about things is highly context-dependent, and it typically requires an innate understanding of how the world works to decipher what we're talking about.

The report estimates that the global market for agricultural robots was valued at $4.56 billion in 2020. By 2027, it will reach $26.68 billion—a compound annual growth rate of 28.7 percent.

Robots are coming to hotels, but how long will they stay? | Popular Science

In 2015, Japan opened the world's first all-robot-run hotel , and called it Henn na (or "Strange") Hotel. The machine menagerie had a short run before management decided to change up its strategy in 2019 , and replaced half the staff with humans.

According to The Economist , "the luggage-carriers could not climb stairs or go outside. A question-and-answer robot could not handle anything beyond basic inquiries—and responded to at least one guest's snoring by waking him repeatedly to tell him it could not understand what he was saying.

Robots could help reduce chemical use in farming

Greenfield Robotics has been working with farmers to test machines that will cut, trim and remove weeds to tend farmland and lessen the need for harmful chemicals.

Kansas farmer Torrey Ball has worked with the company for two years and said the machines have improved.
