Hackers drain nearly $200 million from crypto startup Nomad

Hackers drained almost $200 million in cryptocurrency from Nomad, a tool that lets users swap tokens from one blockchain to another, in yet another attack highlighting weaknesses in the decentralized finance space.

"We are aware of the incident involving the Nomad token bridge," the startup said. "We are currently investigating and will provide updates when we have them."

UCSC student named one of 50 top hackers of 2022

Mansi Saini’s hackathon journey began after she read about an upcoming hackathon in a Girls Who Code alumni e-newsletter.

Now, two years, 14 hackathons, and countless mentorship and leadership roles later, Saini, a rising second-year computer science: computer game design student at the UC Santa Cruz Baskin School of Engineering, has been named one of 50 Top hackers of 2022 by Major League Hacking (MLH).

U.S. Offers $10 Million Bounty for Tips on North Korean Hackers

The U.S. Department of Service doubled last week the $5 million reward it promised in March to anyone offering information on North Korea backed hackers targeting global crypto exchanges and financial institutions to support the state's illicit activities.

The information would be submitted to the U.S. State Department Rewards for Justice program via the agency's Dark web-based tip line by potential sources.

Former Russian President's Controversial Online Post Attributed To 'Hackers'

A nationalist, pro-imperial post calling Georgia and Kazakhstan "artificial" creations briefly appeared on the VKontakte (VK) social network account of former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev before being taken down and attributed to hackers.

The post in question appeared on Medvedev's VK account, which has 2.3 million followers, on August 1 and was removed within about 10 minutes.

European Missile Maker MBDA Denies Hackers Breached Systems | SecurityWeek.Com

European missile maker MBDA has denied that its systems have been breached after cybercriminals offered to sell data allegedly stolen from the company's systems.

Taiwanese government sites disrupted by hackers ahead of Pelosi trip - The Record by Recorded Future

Several websites run by the government of Taiwan were disrupted by distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks hours before U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi became the first high-ranking U.S. official in 25 years to visit the country.

Chang Tun-Han, a spokesperson for Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen, said at around 5 pm local time on Tuesday, the website of the president’s office was hit with an "overseas DDoS attack" that surged traffic levels to 200 times their normal size.
